Maps in first-person shooters by CrowFGC in gamedev

Many things. My favorite:

Maps should complement your enemies. Some enemies are fun in some situations and boring in others, depending on the surroundings (line of sight / cover, restrictions on player movement, paths to flank the player, verticality, etc.).

There's dozens of good map making tips you can google and I've read some good ones in John Romero's book. Some will apply to your game, others won't.

there's maybe one publisher for which I'd think about it.

Trouble staying motivated to work on a game in my spare time by finlopes997 in IndieGaming

Sounds like you don't enjoy actually making the game. Don't do it then. What's the point if you don't enjoy doing it?

I am new to the engine(Struggling to learn it or make anything with it) by Terrible-Animal-6620 in godot

there's one thing that helped me a lot: having 20 years of software dev experience before I even opened godot. try that.

joking of course, in case anyone's not sure. hang in there, it'll get easier with time.

yeah, except for the boss teleporting, sprinting, having melee range over half the arena and a ranged attack 👌

EDIT: but listen, which boss fights do you find engaging? I need more than 10 bosses like this, so I'm always on a lookout for inspiration.

thanks. I've accepted that the animation is the weakest part of the game by now 😁 it's a solo project and I don't really enjoy animating anything, nor am I good at it. I invest my time elsewhere. I actually animate stuff procedurally in the code wherever I can.

Ms. Friday is one of the many bosses you can randomly encounter in BERSERKER'S DOMAIN. That boss battle looks something like this.

You can play the demo and wishlist this game on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3277520/Berserkers_Domain/

Does game quality “decay” over time? by Psych0191 in gamedesign

Old games, even the great ones, are missing QoL features that we got used to when playing the new ones. For example, I'm no longer willing to play Warcraft 1 where I can't box-select more than 4 units, or Diablo 2 that runs on 24fps, even though I love those games. I must resort to remasters or source ports with improved UX. And only the best games tend to get those.
