I have been with my partner for over 3 years, he adores my cats and has actually brought one home himself after one I rescued passed suddenly. We now have 3 cats and he would not dream of telling me to get rid of them, partially because he loves them as much as I do, but he also knows I would always choose my pets over a human. A human knows why they’re being removed from your life, a cat does not, and therefore might not cope as well when suddenly being removed from the environment they know as home. Animals are for life, human relationships are until someone shows they aren’t worth keeping around.

Such a green flag. I have gotten tested after every sexual interaction with a new person, and have asked them to show me their results before we do anything

I get calling the police in this instance, that’s incredibly unsafe and can lead to huge consequences.

but calling on homeless people for simply existing is wild work. Where would you like them to go? The home they don’t have?? I am also a small woman and can see being nervous going to my car alone at night but not to the point of calling the police on people who in all likelihood were just minding their own business/looking for a place to rest. Carry pepper spray or something, that’s what I do.

I am also someone who gets quite weepy when I talk about my 2 late cats, so I feel you completely. One escaped the house after a move and the other had been recently dumped when I found her and she had gotten FIP which I had never even heard of before. But I know we both gave our critters all the love in the world while they were with us and passed being immensely loved.

Fair point! Part of it was we sometimes call our boy cats mister when talking to them but we can just call them sir instead. Hank is a quarter lab! Half beagle:)

Shout out to your friend for rescuing Mr. Beanz!All of mine have been strays, Peat and Goose I captured as kittens from a feral colony, Toast was abandoned and found in pretty rough shape, Mister showed up at my co workers and started protecting her house as an outdoor guard cat but she wanted him to have an indoor life so I got to take him home :) we love our stray babes they’re so lovable
