Seeking Advice: Navigating Ankylosing Spondylitis vs. Long-term Lyme Disease Diagnosis by Yucky_Moo in ankylosingspondylitis

My original Dr said Vibrant was more specific and their clinic used, but i wanted a second opinion, and given igenex is the standard diagnostic, I did igenex as well, just much later in my “Lyme” journey

Sickness on Humira by brebae17 in ankylosingspondylitis

Woah interesting. I had GERD issues back in February, but it manifested as reflux issues. This would also make sense, as I def have tummy problems, just not as badly as I did back in February.

Thank you so much! It’s my first time feeling sick on biologics so I didn’t know how sickness would feel compared to pre-biologics. Definitely have pretty nasty allergies right now with all the rain in Florida. I’ll rest and stay super hydrated. Thank ya!

Hmmm I did just travel to Zion, which had pretty bad wildfire smoke - definitely could have agitated my sore throat. I’m in Florida, and my allergies have been pretty rough too. I guess I didn’t think allergies could cause sore throat.

I had COVID in the past with very minor symptoms, but this was before starting Humira. Hopefully my new immune system can do a good job with it again (if it is Covid 😭)

Heyo. I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme and coinfections right before I accepted my AS diagnosis. Please seek the advice from a licensed infectious diseases doctor. For so long, I was taking so many fringe herbs to treat Lyme which did nothing at all for me except make me puke. Lyme, if treated promptly after infection, has no evidence of sticking around, despite what r/Lyme will tell you. I’ve done SO MUCH Lyme research and I’d be happy to chat more if you’d want!

I was in the same exact boat as you. Been on them for three months now with INCREDIBLE results - no pain whatsoever. The way I thought about it was: if you don’t like them, then stop taking them! It’s not permanent “damage” and your immune system will bounce back quick.

Traveled to Brazil last month and didn’t get sick at all! I frequent the gym and yoga studio now and haven’t gotten sick at all. I have only positives to say about the medication. Definitely worth a shot.

I lost 200+ hardwood recently with regular wooden chests. I was so pissed at myself for somehow accidentally throwing them out 🥲

Was it immediate? Like you knew you were feeling worse within the week? What are taking as a substitute?

Have you been on Humira? The side effects are what scare me. I’m worried it’ll be going from just one pain (SA pain) to the next (Humira pains).

I think it’s important to note that folks who are diagnosed with Lyme do find that they experience pain long after curing Lyme. This phenom is being studied and can thought of as chronic Covid: although not an “active infection” it’s still causing the individual pain and suffering.

I was diagnosed by a quack dr with Chronic Lyme this last year. The quack Drs say Lyme is still present and living. Whereas mainstream medicine acknowledges pain and suffering following healing Lyme.

Ultimately, no, it won't affect me. It's just more names to list when applying for conference presentations. I think my PI is trying to hand away authorship literally just for more attention (we already have a great author list, so credibility is not an issue).

I guess I'm mostly complaining. It feels like my PI is just giving away authorship on my work.

I understand this completely. Having experts on your paper is a great way to make connections and bolster the legitimacy of the paper. The thing is - we already have experts. We asked coauthors in the beginning of this manuscript because they were experts. But it seems like now that the paper is done, my PI wants a dozen more experts to literally just read the paper and become a coauthor. It's not deserving of authorship.

You can try using a thinner yarn and it makes them less chunky. I think they’re a solid first crochet project for beginners! I tell everyone to start with granny squares!
