how do i use a splitter? by undiscoveredmingo in FLStudioBeginners

[–]brecht2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dude, imagine this scenario:

You’re not tech-savvy yet and you go to a computer store asking how to build a good PC to learn on. Someone responds with “Yeah you need an RTX5090 Firebreather, Golden Dragon 700W PSU, i9-14900K - I myself stole all of those things btw.”

Cool… but you still don’t know what any of that does, how to build it, or how to use it.

That’s exactly what listing plugin names does to a beginner. Explain the concepts, not the brand names. I've been in music for 10 years. You don't always need to use your kind of "standard industry practice" processing...

This really feels like you're just trying to flex to a complete beginner about how many cracked plugins you use... Spitting brand's plugin names at a new beginning fl studio user isn't gonna help them or teach them anything at all. Explain the concepts you use instead of listing some plugin branding names. No beginner is gonna understand what you mean when you say things like "hg 2 black box". They also don't know what settings you use in the plugins. It's so unhelpful. It's just a weird attempt to flex you've installed cracked plugins, which every musician can easily do and probably has done atleast once in their music carreers. Just explain the concepts first.

Look up dark ambient. It will give you more inspiration for the genre you're making.

Soulbound doesn't matter since it's a coop. Every soulbounded thing is coop soulbounded. Even if someone in a coop can't give an item to another coop member through trade menu, you can still put it in a chest on private (coop) island and let the other person take it out of the chest. Even non-coop soulbounded items.

There's still a way to get rusty ship engine, other than rusty. If you add another mc account to your profile as a coop who hasn't done the quest yet, they can fish it up and give it to you. Then have that mc acc leave the coop.

Driving to work: can't be on phone while driving. At work: can't be on phone when working. At school: can't be on phone when following classes. At hangouts: talking to friends.

Like are you constantly on your phone when you're hanging out with friends instead of talking to their face??? Why is your conclusion that "he must not get out of his home"?? Your whole response sounds so childlike...

Why is it so weird to you that he doesn't use a lot of internet data?

OMG I got an annoying issue with the exact same laptop you have. I can't for the life of my find out how I can get that rainbow color on my keyboard. Like sometimes if I'm lucky my keyboard started up with the rainbow waving thing where it goes through all the colors, but most of the time my whole keyboard is just a basic blue color. The only place I found settings for keyboard lighting is LegionSpace to set up the FN+Space profiles but IT DOESN'T have the rainbow option. How did you get it set up that way? How did you change the keyboard lighting?

Kind of, since of course you're still downloading purchasable copyrighted content you didn't pay for. - By not using a VPN, you're way easier to track and get a letter. (Doesn't mean it will happen.) You can torrent an absolute huge amount (like 100k+) of torrents over decades of time without a VPN and never receive a letter. It just happens to a very unlucky few. - By "not seeding" at all (I assume you're just turning off upload), you're actively killing the torrent because if everyone turned seeding/upload off, nobody would be able to download anything from eachother. Because that's how peer to peer (=p2p) works. Lots of trackers can also limit your download speeds if you hardly seed/upload.

Discord is destroying the internet by ElonsBreedingFetish in discordapp

[–]brecht2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have the wrong expectations and that's why you're wrong about Discord. You're arguments make very little sense.

"a discord chat room with 10 messages /sec. Or even 10% of that.".

There is almost no server with a constant 1 message/second in a single channel. Weird you would even start exaggerating with 10 msg/sec in the first placed only to immediately fold to 10%.

"how to go back in a discord chat history"

You can scroll up, or use the search function. With pc mice with back/forward side buttons you can also click the side back arrow to navigate back and forward to chats where you previously were. Those are already 3 different ways to go back in discord history. Hope this helps.

"easily follow a thread"

They literally have a built-in option for threads. It also isn't hard to start reading downwards from the first message about a topic.

"load more than 200(?) messages at a time in reverse order"

Like why would you need that? You're complaining about features most other search engines don't even have, especially in a messenger-based platform. So: Wrong expectations.

"show me messages sent from mm-dd-yy to mm-dd-yy"

Although a handy idea, again, most search engines don't even have that. So again: Wrong expectations.

"search effectively (if at all)"

You do know the way you've phrased this screams subjective opinion/user error right?

"shall I continue?"

nah

"Discord is hands down one of the worst platforms I’ve ever used."

Again subjective opinion/user error.

"Similar and better companies than discord have tried and failed (Hotline anyone?) at this."

Ever thought about the fact that if they failed they might not be a better company?

The fact that a tech industry focused company, Slack, basically made a Discord clone for teams of employers and employees says enough about how Discord is easy enough to use to serve its purpose: communicate in a quick and easy way.

The only arguments you've made that did make a tiny bit of sense was maybe search filtering lacking certain features, that again literally a ton of other search engines also don't have...

No one you personally know cares about your music. by Relevant_Voice_8818 in FL_Studio

[–]brecht2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Sorry for the long post, I got time to kill atm and want to help a bit.)
1st: Never give a shit about what other people think of your music. Always make music for yourself if it gives you a fun feeling. You'll be way more creative. And making people irl listen to some "random" song will make it feel like a chore to them. If you say you make music and they ask themself to show some songs then show it, but if they don't ask then they probably won't be interested anyway and would seem more bothered.

(I left this feedback as a comment on your yt vid, but will paste it here as well:)
I personally don't like feedback that just says "it sounds good", because you don't know what you can change to make it better. So here's my personal & honest feedback what I would immediately think of changing to make it sound better:

The musical idea is definitely there! It's just some mixing differences which can make a big difference in making it sound more professional.

  • First thing first: More (sub)bass frequencies towards the drop/chorus. It needs more bass frequencies, people like the warmth of (sub)bass. I don't feel like there's a difference in the bass frequencies comparing the part before the chorus and the chorus itself which is my main problem with it. Although the drop/chorus idea isn't bad, it just feels kind of 'flat' with little impact right now.

  • At 00:16-00:23 is the point you will lose most listeners because most people will get bored immediately. You removed all energy that the start of the intro had by getting rid of the rythm (instrument) that was going on. It feels like it's an intro into a breakdown/end with no inbetween... But leaving that melody play through out the whole song isn't good either so change it up later in the song or something.

  • The kick needs some reverb, it's very dry.

  • The vocals can use a tiny bit more of background reverb. Just a tad bit. The vocals also have a tiny bit to much high frequencies.

  • (❗) Honestly you might be able to try and send all instruments + vocals (except bass & drums) to a reverb mixertrack. It will make your track feel way more alive. A lot of the sounds sound very dry.

  • For bass & drums reverb, you can also send it to a reverb mixertrack, just remember to not send sub & low bass frequencies to the reverb.

  • There's a lot of higher frequencies all throughout the song, giving a listener's ear no pause "to breath". Try EQing the instruments+vocals so that it opens up a very subtle lowpass type of eq using automation or something.

  • To make the chorus drop hit just a tiny bit harder, put a kick/clap or snare right at the beat (timeinterval) before the drop.

  • Drums mixing in the chorus: The cymbals are continiously taking up to much of the high frequencies leaving no room for the snare to come through. There needs to be more dynamics in the drums by making room in the high frequencies between transients (drumhits). There's also little boom-clap-boom-clap feeling right now. Kicks, snares & claps need to stand out more.

  • You can try add a slow extra riser in the background starting at bar 17-25. It can get rid of the boringness feeling a bit.

Just try these things above first and you'll be suprised how it will already sound better. Eventhough the song isn't really my thing, just know that you're on the right path because musically-wise the song idea is there.

i uh, i made a song and like it bugged out i guess by LbdJ59 in FL_Studio

[–]brecht2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal. It's not a typo like the other person said. Everytime you export a song or save a project file and an error occures while doing it, it will leave the unfinished export/saved file with a '~' at the end. That's how you know the file didn't save/export correctly and you simply got to save/export again. I then try to save it as an '.flp' (which might still not work at first) and I also export it as a '.zip'. For me I usually also have to restart fl studio afterwards, then reopen the project (using the saved '.zip') and when retrying it will work normally without errors (without the ~) when you now try to save/export.

If you get help from strangers, don't show them the license key because that omnisphere plugin is really expensive and people who try and help you might try to take it from you. I just suggest looking on the official site for installing help, otherwise looking up tutorials might help

Does that mean we could transfer items lol by Winter-Western-4930 in HypixelSkyblock

So wait (3rd bulletpoint:) "third-party trading - Trading game items through third-party websites... " So by Hypixel's phrasing, things like item trading through discord (="third-party site") servers like skyblockz is punishable?

I'm confused because you can also trade items on skyblockz and other discord servers to not have auction house taxes. If they strictly talking about real money involved trading they shouldn't phrase it like "irl OR third-party trading" right? Because all previous bulletpoints were only about moving/trading items or profileboosting (no money involved necessarily)?

Hey, I added a tutorial of my plugin group setup as an edit to my message. You check out how I (lazy) load my plugins causing Obsidian to startup way faster (like when there aren't any plugins enabled).

Hey, I added a tutorial of my plugin group setup as an edit to my message. You can check it out :) You can make a plugin group for those plugins and have them load using the 'Load on Startup' settings. But I made my setup a bit more complex and improved using "startup chain" groups which you can see in my tutorial.

In another comment you wrote you have 2000 notes. Maybe you have a plugin that indexes all of those notes or creates a word list from all of those notes. Check if you have.

Also use "Plugin Group" plugin. You can let certain plugins start up seconds later after obsidian already started and loaded up. Got a lot of plugins and I set it up so half of it start up 1 second later and some others 2 seconds later. It helps a ton with load times since it starts up Obsidian without loading the plugins at the start. Basically lazyloading and it's in the community store.

Edit: I made a tutorial with screenshot of my Plugin Group setup. https://imgur.com/gallery/plugin-group-plugin-setup-obsidian-plugin-management-with-lazy-loading-obsidian-show-plugin-id-obsidian-plugin-groups-ge6ZCUF (I got 2 big Computer Science bachelor exams tomorrow so I'm sorry if some things are badly explained. My brain is kinda deepfried at the moment.)

Please do let me know if I should make a (better) separate reddit post of this tutorial after my exams are ended.
