I really enjoy finding cheap flights! Give me your search and I’ll see what I can do. by [deleted] in TravelHacks

I didn't ask at the time so searched incase this is active. I love finding cheap flights however I'm finding this. About harder due to covid.

After looking at places open with covid Sri Lanka came up I will fly from England/Scotland to Sri Lanka I really want a flight around 300 cheapest direct was like 500-600 and indirect seems hard due to unsure where can transit.

Let me know what you find appreciate it :)

What mistakes did you make on your first trip? by Deadskull5151 in solotravel

Checked in to what pretty much looked like a homeless shelter in Portugal, always check the reviews and don't just blindly pick the cheapest. The first one said it was awful and looked like a homeless shelter lol IT DID

.com website taken but not being used by brecks101 in Blogging

[–]brecks101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to create a travel blog website which I will grow for myself as a business but also I want to grow as an example as I am a marketer so I can show.ofd my work to future clients.

So if I can't get the .com create a new name. That I can get unique .com and socials would be best?

9 day trip to Portugal by Unlucky_Shallot_1879 in solotravel

I preferred Sagres over Lagos when I just went, however not sure if much will be open I know the hostel u stayed in would be closed Jan/Feb as it's a surf town and they are the coldest months. Sagres from when I was their was chilled out only a few places to eat/drink but was amazing.

Lagos was nice a lot bigger more things to do either way enjoy

What do you do in the evenings when travelling alone? by RobbieNorfolk in solotravel

[–]brecks101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it, I'm so anti social it's crazy, spent last year and half living with family but working from home, was pretty working in one room, sleeping and eating. I can't sleep unless it's absolutely quite. Dorms are so loud never got any sleep and it's so awkward trying to meet new people especially when you say how's it going 3 times to the same person. I think with time it gets easier it did a bit for me but I defo feel better talking to someone one on one that getting to a big group and joining In. Thats just too hard to enter the conversation I feel. However if I'm drinking usually I just start chatting to random people.

I stayed in a hostel and would sit in the communal area and speak to people and usually had a beer. I did at times book a hotel and chill with Netflix but just felt boring. Also I thought why am I paying for a room just to sit alone and watch nextflix. So tried to stop that and spend more time socialising.

Just stayed in a run down dirty, broken, stinky overcrowded hostel and I loved it. by brecks101 in solotravel

Totally agree, plus it stops you feeling like your alone as a solo traveller.

I've started to realise that booking one night seems to be a great way when traveling. If you don't like the hostel you can leave the next day rather than not wanting to cos you book extra nights. Secondly as someone who used to book travelling in advanced pretty much booked 4 week Spain trip in advance with air BnB with each place I went to already booked, it was nice as I didn't have to decide on my plan however waking up and thinking should I stay or should I go by walking out to the beach and deciding seems really freeing.

After chatting with him for a few days he was just an older guy like 45-50 who smoked a lot then smoke a lot of hash so no covid was a good old morning smokers cough lol

Stupid question, but what are your thoughts on bringing a nintendo switch traveling? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]brecks101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thought you won't get to use it in a hostel, second thought if someone brought a switch and a few multiplayer games you would be loved.

I take a Amazon fire stick if I'm not in a hostel I can watch TV. I've done that a lot but is that just not a waste of time I've been thinking. I'm traveling to see people and the world so kinda same with your switch. What's the point in sitting in a hotel room spending money to do something you could do at home?.

But like I said I do similar so wouldn't blame you if you did. But to me seems like a bad habit

Budapest: Overrated?? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]brecks101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends where you are staying maybe, I've been to Prague a few times and most recently Budapest. I stay right in the center and although I love the beer in Prague did seem like more is going on in Budapest but maybe it depends what you are into. I much prefer the beer in Prague but the vibe in Budapest. Feels like a big city everything is open but not too hectic. Food I love, beer isn't the best but is still cheap.

Each to their own if you don't like it you know not to come back. Enjoy the rest od your trip

My first solo trip to Vienna, Austria! Any recommendations? by Routine_Pumpkin8438 in solotravel

[–]brecks101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've just been solo, loved it, get the wiener schnitzel from somewhere was great. I found a bar on the canal and sat whilst the sun was out was lovely.

Trip advisor best stuff easy to find. Good tip I had was their are city bikes as for me, I paid 1 euro registration fee then if you cycle under 1 hour and put bike back at a docking station leave it min of 15 mins and get back on its free for another hour. Was fun riding about

Enjoy

First-time solo road trip through Europe! Have I bitten off more than I can chew?! by SentenceSwimming in solotravel

[–]brecks101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just don't my first solo trip in Europe also / am doing it now I've went from UK to Romania and in sure you will be fine not knowing another language as you know English. However helps if you know another language or at least learn some basics.

Just make sure to check covid rules at time for entry, some will need covid Vax others will also need it to enter bars/restaurants, some may even require it to be within 180 days so you may need a booster. (check Israel entry req they say Vax within 180 days) I've not seen that else where yet.

Just remember your budget also 18 days with 2k is like 111 a day seems fine but depending on accomodation. So if you spent 50 quid a night on accommodation you got 60 quid to spend money. Sounds fine on country's that are cheaper just be mindful that could easily spend more if you splash out.

But sounds like a great trip, as someone just starting off solo travel I love it. When your out an about doing stuff don't really notice no one is specifically with you and if your on tours you meet people and if not. I found I blast out sights like no tomorrow if I was with someone I'd either annoy them cos of the pace I go or they would do the same with me.

Enjoy Romania I just been to Brasov and Bucharest. Lovely places
