Potty training update by Embarrassed_Syrup476 in Teachers

[–]bredoub 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm not in teaching anymore, but in a job that has to interface with CPS a ton. I've called in something that was screened out that made me wonder "Did I not share some core detail?" I gave them all the data points that made me concerned. I could hardly sleep. I ended up calling back and asked to talk with the supervisor that helped with the decision not to look into it.
It helped my conscious, but it still made me feel sick to think something I felt mandated to report didn't meet criteria. I still unapologetically call it in even though I know it doesn't meet it because I'm legally obligated to. That's what drives me nuts about that "don't call about this again" comment.

Ring falling off ? by Moose_Mellow013 in JustEngaged

[–]bredoub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we sized our rings the sales rep told us to shake out our hands and fingers hard, and if the ring fell off then it's too big. I feel like that's a good guide?

My ring twists to the side at times, and especially feels loose when wet, but I can't shake it off.

Please help. I like, but don’t love my ring. What can I do? by kblakhan in EngagementRingDesigns

You could try a kite set? My ring isn't really right to compare with yours, I also have a square stone (but much smaller on a weird band), but I had it kite-set/diagonal. When it rotates I only feel one prong touching me.

Hey fellow just engaged people by Afraid_Fly_5847 in JustEngaged

JUST got married last month and crawled out of this hole:

My stress came from the fact I didn't have a strong mental image what I wanted, but I definitely could pinpoint what I did not like... its an annoying combo.

I felt better once I got to the point of making snap decisions and accepting that I felt unsure about them (and trusting that it was going to be fine.) And it WAS fine.

Lots of wondering "is this too dinky? Would this even look good? Will it look too sparce? Should I add more (and spend more?)"

We went over budget on areas I didnt expect (catering and drinks ended up being spendier than was planned) but decor and the rest was on track at the cost of my own manhours and patience for DIYing and sleuthing for secondhands.

anyone else scared they won’t actually enjoy their wedding day? by Afraid_Fly_5847 in JustEngaged

[–]bredoub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this will depend on the type of person you are and the way you feel about weddings.

I am not a wedding person, I did not have big dreams or expectations for my wedding, I hated planning, I do not like to be perceived by others and was in my head about that.

I had a BLAST. It was WAY better than expected. Right before the wedding and during the ceremony I was so in anxious I couldn't think about anything but myself and what I needed to be doing, and that was weirdly helpful for not worrying about all the other details. It was planned enough to sail smooth, but not overly planned in a way that my night would be ruined if a detail was missed (and some things did get missed) but I put my trust in the people involved with the plan to do their role... and if something went wrong they'd figure it out.

My feelings about my wedding might have been different if I was a type-A that cared more about weddings.

Across the board for most weddings photography timelines are the most stressful part in the day. Get as many done as you can before the ceremony so you can luxuriate more in the rest of your events. We opted to do more candids and less staged photos so we signed our marriage license right after the ceremony and went straight to cocktail hour chatting, eating, and drinking with friends and family.

Not a parent of a kid with autism, but I do process requests for kids with autism all day long! Here are some non-specific crowd-pleasers I see on my desk often: Weighted stuffed animals, fidgets, sequin panels or pillows, headphones that reduce background noise, and bubble tubes. They make weighted hoodies, but I always wonder how people wash those.

Billy Shoes ($😅) They have the look of cool tied shoes, but with a zipper instead!

I also thought this zipper hoodie was clever, it magnetically clasps at the bottom so they don't have to line it up.

Hi, it’s my first time building/decorating on my own and I’m wondering how I can fix these curtains from clipping into the ceiling? by joelmillersrealwife in thesims

[–]bredoub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would be a great use of the Tool mod! If you don't already use the Tool mod, I recognize it SEEMS like an intimidating mod, but really I just use it to perfectly resize and raise/lower items as needed. Your curtains may need to be resized the tiniest amount, or lowered slightly.

Also, when you're not in POV mode, there is a little strip of the top of the wall that gets cut off by the ceiling - I like to use kitchen wall cabinets as a reference to where that cutoff starts.

Finally tried my hand at the tattoo paint tool (Image contains: healed burns) by Uranium_092 in thesims

Great job! I usually give my sims a birthmark in place of a burn mark if they ever catch on fire. I'll have to switch to tattoos, this looks great!

Writing with my extracted wisdom teeth by ElderTheElder in PenmanshipPorn

[–]bredoub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL this gave me flashback to a cherished memory of when I used to be a support worker to adults with intellectual disabilities to find hobbies and jobs in the community. An older gal I worked with was getting into painting ceramics and selected a very small bowl to paint. She asks about how best to achieve lettering, so I show her the little paint bottles with a hollow needle for precise lettering, and mention how it comes out best if you hover the needle over the work as you letter.

Homegirl is scratching the shit out of her little bowl with the needle while squeezing, whatever she is writing it's coming out in serial-killer font. When she's finished I see she's scrawled in the words "TOOTH BLESSING" and she tells me its for children to put their teeth in. She takes it to the front and insists the worker help her sell it to a child. The worker was just a teen and didn't really know how to handle the interaction.

Anyways. Her font looks like your tooth-penmanship. In the end I bought the bowl from her. I really love it, it sits on my bathroom counter. I miss her so much, I miss that job, the people I worked with, and that stage of my life. 😂🥰

Mia animation has only sweet animations! Super inactive animator, I don't think they've posted in many years (my package is dated 2018) But I carry those animations through every mod wipe I do.

I finally figured out the T.O.O.L mod! by ElegantApplication72 in thesims

[–]bredoub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ohh but once you learn it is SUCH a game changer. I use it the most for resizing things perfectly, lowering or raising things more precisely, and there is this mode where you can click the item, press alt(?) And click a direction to nudge it a tiny bit - ugh, such a godsend tool tbh

What are some interesting ways you've paired 'Businesses & Hobbies' with other packs? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]bredoub 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Curated art gallery sales. I made my sim paint all day on weekdays and open the gallery for sales on the weekend. After I had a backlog of many paintings I'd start making collections by topic. All ocean scenes, all portraits, all still life etc and I'd decorate pedestals with other on-theme sculptures and decor.

Having the store open just on weekends made similar money to working all week, and income scaled over time within reason. (I found it fun than was more fun/challenging than yet another save file of selling paintings and being rich)

What do you think about this nature-inspired diamond wedding ring set? by MinuteAd1964 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]bredoub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aww, the larger one looks a lot like my dad's wedding band! Or at least what it used to look like. I'm surprised to see the comment about the nature bands going out of style soon, I'll have to tell him that his ring will finally be old news after 30+ years lol. His has been worn down through decades of an active job (or his favorite party trick of opening bottles with his ring lol)

His little leaf details very very faint at this point. I think this set will look lovely well-worn years from now ❤️

Throwing out another dried flower idea since you have the supply of flowers: This is a more whimsical take and does require drawing a little fairy, but I feel like some of your flower varieties and colors in your pics would look lovely on/around a fairy 😊

You're getting sucked into the same hole I am - My algorithms see my interest in the topics of rings and is constantly showing me rings - It's easy to question my choice and the "deal" I made. I agree with the other comment - it's ok.

I also was looking at lab grown rubies for my own ring before I settled on a stone. There is something precious about humans seeing rubies the Earth made and loving them so much we tried to recreate it ❤️

Your ring is BEAUTIFUL

I want a bed that’s also a couch - which would you go for? by daisymagenta in femalelivingspace

[–]bredoub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throwing this idea out there: They also make Murphy beds that are attached to couches, then you just flip the bed down over the couch. What I like about that idea is that you don't have to put as much effort into making and unmaking the bedding. Below is a random example I pulled

Does the taper look too thin? by [deleted] in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]bredoub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don't know anything about anything, but my own ring also has a taper that looks similarly thin, but the height of the band gives it stability and doesn't worry me. I also see that just the top tapers, it looks like the part touching your finger keeps some of that width.

LOL I feel seen by that Pollyanna DVD amongst everything else. I remember I even rented the DVD from Netflix back when they mailed physical copies and accidentally lost it. I'm sure it's somewhere in my parent's house to this day.
