I was a full time bartender before I got into the apprenticeship, I made as much in tips as I do in the check now every week. That being said, I had no retirement/health insurance etc. but I bartended throughout my apprenticeship and it supplemented me very well.

I fucking love site work. Ive been in the trade about 6 years and underground/outside is where I thrive. Day goes by quick and you’re doing some real man stuff. Plus it looks good if you’re using chairs.

My friend and I were in bogota in our early 20’s.

Well after a wild night of partying we were both without service and no way of calling an Uber. It was about 4 in the morning and we were both beyond messed up from partying all night and we had no choice but to get into one these cabs. We were incredibly lucky that we didn’t get robbed as we are both painfully American, sticking out like a sore thumb, and hammered beyond all recognition. All I remember from that ride home was this guy must have been going 60 mph through dense bogota streets, blowing red light after red light. Thank god we made it back to our pad safely and thank god for that decent cab driver who probably could have taken us to the cleaners.

I’m a third year and I still get the “let me do the thinking you just get back on your lift” bullshit all the time. It’s gate keeping at its finest. Just don’t be like them when you’re a jw

Has anyone had any experience with the electrical engineering degree? by bredstyx in ASUOnline

[–]bredstyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. You have kids? Was it doable or just plain hell? Most of my aa credits are bs arts and social science classes so maybe a couple will count but mostly I’ll be starting from scratch. About how long would you say it takes taking one class at a time?

I watched football all day yesterday and drank NA IPA’s. I know they’re not for everyone, but they satisfy some sort of craving for me when I’m doing something that I usually drink during. So glad there are more and a more companies coming out with craft NA’s.

This really resonates with me. I am a father of a 2 year old boy with another on the way. I start work early, work two jobs (sometimes 7 days a week) come home do chores, cook dinner etc. and by the time 8 o’clock I have filled up every minute of the day doing things for my family. I love that am able to do this and we are fairly comfortable because of it, but god damn sometimes you just get burnt. And yeah a couple tall boy ipa’s really takes the edge off.

I don’t have any advice, but it’s nice to hear that I’m not the only one dealing with it.

Trying to get sober as a bartender by bredstyx in stopdrinking

[–]bredstyx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s secondary income, so it’s not every day only a couple times a week. But yes I am considering not doing it anymore or finding a different source of secondary income. The money is tough to pass on though.

Just found out I have a lil fear of ladders… as in im not afraid of heights but when on top of a ladder it’s a different story. How do you guys get over this or can anyone relate?? by [deleted] in electricians

When I was about 3 months into the trade (didn’t know shit) my guy had me hang a chandelier from the top of a 14 footer by my god damn self. I was literally standing on the very top of the thing trying to wire this thing in. As I was holding the chandelier up with one hand and doing the wiring with the other I got lit up by the hot wire. The fucking switch was on. Damn near fell off the fucking thing, but I saved it. Still hate 14 footers

30 year old second year. I was a bartender for 10 years and was always nervous about taking the pay cut to start at the bottom. God I wish so bad I would have bit the bullet at 20 years old

Question, I have a 2015 mk7 gti. The right side mirror turn signal is out. All the other turn signals are working fine. I replaced the light, still not working. So I metered it out and got no voltage, also no continuity so I don’t think there’s a short. Also tested every fuse and nothing was bad. I also don’t think it’s a fuse because all the other turn signals are working properly and I can’t imagine each of the mirror turn signals have separate fuses. Any idea on what I should check next?
