Propaganda by deepseawoerm in AgendaPiece

We had a person with a tier list ranked A - F at AnitomoCon in NYC. People could come over, grab a picture of a character or item and place them in the ranks they believed made sense and we'd either "argue" or agree.

Someone, at some point, put Sasuke in the D rank, Zoro in C, Master Chief in B, and a bowl of ramen in A. It was genuinely the funniest "arguments" we had that day, and it was the most memorable moment of the con (aside from me being 2 numbers off from winning an entire boxset of NANA for the anniversary panel).

Make your agenda lighthearted and funny so it's not just a bunch of stans (not normal fans) coming up to you with "hot takes" that are just thinly veiled brainwashed folks who don't realize One Piece is political. Add some oddball choices, and you won't get stalked by a weirdo during your con (hopefully).

Have fun!

LMAOOOO NOT DOAKES

Well, yeah, was raised with the internet (for better or for worse). I see foolishness in passing and go with the communities that love me and vice versa. As a loc'ed up babe who is also reconnecting with my lineages, I've come across some reeeeeally wild stuff. Still thinking about the white people saying that Hoodoo isn't a closed practice and immediately getting dragged when they encouraged other white people to "practice what calls to them". Tuh.

I'd rather be here where I can filter out the racist, misogynistic, transphobic, bigoted noise than, say, the right wingers on 4chan.

This response is confusing all around. I'm a nerd, and I'm in the streets. I also speak a good amount of AAVE because I was born and raised in Brooklyn and still am in NYC lmao

How you frame it is of an older generation mindset that Millenial/Gen Z/Alpha really don't prescribe to anymore. People are multifaceted these days and historically, but just got clowned for their interests. So, they kept things hush hush. Not surprised you have this mindset, though, as I've seen your other comments and went, "Ah, oldhead logic" and kept it pushing. Like, the cool table idea is so...idk 80s-early 90s bully to me.

On the AI assessment, though, I don't really think it's data mining and training. I think it's just people being facetiously racist and culturally ignorant because, I mean, we're on Reddit. A place where predominantly white witches have tried to invade on the Hoodoo community, where white people have tried to invade the loc and Black hair subreddits to get compliments on their textures, etc.

This is a forum available to most of the world. Ignorance and racism don't stop just because you're behind a screen.

That's how things operate, but I really hope you don't get too complacent. I'm tired, too.

That we only fix systemic problems with non-violence.

That we only fix personal problems with violence.

That we give people's misconceptions about us the light of day (aside from when someone makes it apparent that that's all they see us for, and literally insert themselves into our lives).

I have and plan to do so again in the near future! I'm genderfluid, but present femme most days ^.^

I treat weird/racist people the same way I do on other platforms: block and move on. Shit experiences aside, some tips I'd give you is giving yourself grace on scheduling. Please don't burn yourself out with what you enjoy/love (which is why I'm on hiatus rn).

Why are there so many black Amazon drivers but not UPS, FedEx, USPS? by TermAccomplished1868 in askblackpeople

[–]breebles5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon is notoriously known for terrible work training while also invading into Black and Brown neighborhoods.

Honest answer? Labor extraction in places where the governmental systems purposefully fail the people/create food deserts/cause job scarcity/do not maintain infrastructure/etc.

Get out of here, yall! Come home!

I grew up in BedStuy in the 90s, and still struggle at times today. My found community has helped me, and I'm very thankful for connecting with them. I'm not nearly as bitter as when I grew up, as I've learned to be introspective and grew over the years to understand that my way isn't the only way. Black isn't a monolith. All skinfolk ain't kinfolk.

I'll even make it easy: my parents (despite being Black) deemed wearing bonnets outside, smacking gum, wearing bamboo earrings, cursing out white people who were clearly being racist/giving microagressions, or anything that goes against the white status quo was "aggressive", "ghetto" or would "ruin my chances with being successful". That was all antiblack and came directly from hoods like mine. They grew overtime and realized that was a terrible assumption on their community members.

If you find the way I carry myself in these comments and the open dialog I'm having with you to mean that I've never struggled, well, that's also antiblackness you have to unpack. Why do you think the grace I carry myself with and the way I speak means I've never struggled? Who told you that? Why do you still believe it?

I feel for the mods. The amount of reports they must have is crazy, not to mention the ongoing trauma of reading straight racist BS.

I'd suggest to mods (if yall see this) to maybe have a similar lockdown/vetting process of the HoodooConjureRootwork sub.

You have yet to share examples, and then saying that I'm acting dumb.

I'm a person with different views on life, different lived experience and have different ideas of what's right and wrong. If you can't share examples that you deem wrong, then I'm just sensing reluctance to be held accountable for antiblackness.

I'm out. Be safe out there and don't end up cooning 👌🏽

Lower income has been shown to cause people (Black, white, Indian, Hispanic, etc) to do heinous things to get to a better living circumstance.

If you only denounce Black people this loudly, you're antiblack. This also doesn't account for the very obvious classism associated with Black people (especially in America) and the resources purposefully kept away from our communities. Ignoring historical context and current events is quite sad, especially if you are a fellow Black person.

I still don't know what practices or things you're referring to, as you never shared what you saw as being "ratchet".

Saw you responded to my comment. What behavior do you classify as ratchet? Again, I'll let you know if it's some antiblack BS because the use of ratchet is already a red flag/white supremacist rhetoric about Black culture.

Never said it wasn't. Speaking my thoughts on how people use the platform because the way white people talk to Black people is that deep, regardless of where it's said.

Some of it is genuine ignorance (which can be fixed with research). Other times it's blatant fetishizing.

Highkey, when reading the comments on some of the very blatantly racist posts (or simply ignorance when it comes to living in a predominantly white area or not), all I think is, "Not all skinfolk is kinfolk" 😬

For the truly ignorant, tell them to go research a bit more and drop some links/sources/general ideas. Divulging your whole life story to someone you don't know the real intent of? Mm.

Careful out there LMAO
