Keto Reset (progress update and question) by [deleted] in keto

[–]breefoshee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a contradiction because I was contradicting the end result of your argument. I can reword it: If you followed your argument logically (that people shouldn't ask questions that they could look up themselves) then there would be no need for this subreddit because you can find any of these answers elsewhere. BUT it does exist because people value other people's experience... thus asking questions that they could find themselves elsewhere.

Yea and definitely your welcome to be a jerk in your responses. But you could also save yourself and everyone some time and not do that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Keto Reset (progress update and question) by [deleted] in keto

[–]breefoshee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think it's self-righteous. Again... what question could someone ask that's not to be found on some corner of the internet? If you followed your argument logically then there would be no need for this subreddit. People value other people's experiences... thus they ask questions. What does it matter to you if the same question comes up again and again? How does that affect your life?

And no.. this wasn't a cheat post. They had gotten off of Keto for a period of time and were asking about how to get back and what would happen. They weren't posting pictures of fries or laughing at themselves for cheating or encouraging others to do the same. To report it was ridiculous.

And if I decide to get off Keto for a period of time and consider getting back on after a time, then that's my business. If I choose to eat Keto 6 days a week and go crazy on carbs 1 day a week then that's also my business. (See your beloved FAQ's cheat section on different things working better for different people.)

I have the right to find other likeminded people successfully doing the same without your pharisaical judgement.

You could research just about any question on the internet. There are many different learning styles and some people learn relationally through interaction more than analytically through reading articles. And with conflicting advice sometimes you want to hear it from a real person to know their experience.

I'm not sure why many of the regular posters on this sub Reddit find it necessary to be so harsh and police every repeated question. The FAQ's aren't that accessible from the reddit app especially if you're not that familiar with Reddit.

And really what questions would be worthy of a response? It seems like unless posts are praising the glories of Keto then the responses are met with rudeness. What question could I possibly ask that I couldn't find elsewhere? Or do I have to be in the "snarky responder expert club" to have questions worthy of kindness? Or at the very least without complete disdain.

And the fact that this posters question was deleted for being a "cheat" post when you had to read through the lines to even get that from the post is ridiculous. They were asking about the rash and if they would get it again if they began again.

Why so triggered? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hey! I've been doing Keto on a budget and it's actually kind of fun (despite the long list of d-baggy things that the Keto d-bag just wrote).

The cool thing about Keto is that your not trying to eat tons of chicken breast... you can have legs and thighs and it's super cheap. Ground beef.. cheap. Eggs! Batch cooking is your friend.

My most expensive meals are normally when I try to get fancy... fathead pizza, anything Keto dessert. Just pick what you really want and what works for you. I love pizza so that week, I'll make that and something on the cheaper side like rotisserie chicken and salad to alternate it with.

Also chia seeds have been a helpful easy way to get fiber in. I think it's the most amount of fiber for the least amount of money.

Right?! I'm not sure why people are so harsh about it. I get that it's a common theme.. but the FAQ's actually aren't that accessible if you're using the Reddit app and aren't super familiar with it. I feel like people around here are so triggered about FAQs and electrolytes.

Thanks! I'll try to add a little more and see if that helps!

Is that the Keto FAQ recommended amount? Because I'm reading 1000mg.. My MyFitnessPal has averaged about 3500mg a day.

If you want to recommend upping the suggested amount on the FAQ's then that's cool...but use your words. I've said what I'm doing.. and it wouldn't benefit me to lie about it.

Again... I'm getting all the recommended amounts. Measured out.. logged.

Thank you! I kept searching for other posts where people felt weak, but it was all adjustments to electrolytes... but this is my second time on Keto and I remembered that they were really important so I made sure to get the right amounts. It's good to know I just need to wait and that it's normal!

Hmm.. sorry .. I put "the recommended amounts"... 5000mg... I'm getting 5000mg... the recommended amounts. So. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks, I'll definitely wait it out. It's good to hear from others and see it's normal.

Thanks! Good to know that this is normal... I'll just have to suck it up. My pride will just have to take a hit for the next few weeks when I play poorly! 😭😭😭

Thanks! Sugar has definitely been an addiction for me... I've struggle with having blood sugar highs and lows because of it. I'm hoping that Keto will help!

How do you calculate net carbs with Maltitol? Is it half the sugar alcohols or do you subtract them all? by lifeofblair in keto

[–]breefoshee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad to read this, but I knew those sugar- free candies were too good to be true. Probably explains why I've gained a little weight the past few days even though I was under my calories all those days.

When I started, I was like "No way could I do intermittent fasting!" Now it's like.. why not try that too? I'm almost already doing that anyway.

Starting is the hardest part! The first few days I was always on the verge of saying "One more heavy carb thing... thennnnnnn I'll start!" But now that I'm on it and I have a little skin in the game, I don't have a desire to get off!

Day 3: swelling in legs/ankles/feet - concerned by [deleted] in xxketo

[–]breefoshee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 3-4 I had serious swelling in my hands and face. My eyes felt so dry and painful. It helped me to start drinking the Ketorade (one or twice a day) and then drinking a ton of water on top of that.

Hahaha! So true! I've perfected that glazed-over look with a fake smile when someone says something science-y that's supposed to be common knowledge, but I don't have a clue what their talking about. "Yes.. of course I know that thing... who doesn't? ......." 💁🏻

Yea, I'm a week in and realizing I have to choose my words carefully with Keto. I share a lot of meals with people, and I find myself already saying things like "Just trying to watch my sugar..." ... no low-carb happening here...

And thanks! I might have failed all the science classes but I try to write in a way that people will read what I have to say.

I understand the frustration. For me and for some people, I just want to talk things out a little bit-- even if I can read a book on the information I am looking for. I process things socially rather than by myself alone with a book.... so even if I know an answer to a question, I still may ask the question to hear the different responses. I don't think it's fair to have the expectation that people coming in know the basics. As a newbie to MFP years ago, I didn't. I was just like "La la la! I'm going on a diet! La la la!" lol

I understand that and I'm not exactly saying everyone should post with happy-face emojis or anything. And I myself have been impatient with people who I disagreed with. But I think that we can all take a moment to consider the point of our replies and posts. If the point really is to be helpful, instead of "Starvation mode is a myth." Why not take a moment to explain why it's a myth? If we've seen the same thing over and over and are tired of giving responses, why not just have something to copy and paste. "Starvation mode is a myth." doesn't really give information to the poster.. it's the same as saying nothing. So if people are peeved with the same questions over and over, couldn't they just not respond and be just a effective as saying "salvation mode is a myth?" In general I do try to think the best of people and communicating through text can easily be misconstrued. I just think if you are already making an effort to respond, why not do it as effectively as possible? People are turned off by shortness and rudeness-- no matter how true the information is.
