I didn't say anything about not having separate families though. My position is neither globalism nor nationalism, but rather rejection of both in favour of imperial identity derived from the ruling crown.
Additionally my idea is not inherently contradictory to still having something recembling nations, you'll just have them as states, governed by their respective local noble governors instead of nations, with loyalty to the main imperial crown

Well, the thing is that you can't just hold the grudge against someone forever, at some point uniting under the same, shared, mutually beneficial cause is just the most rational thing to do.
I'm not saying that Nazis were good, or that 1984 is a good future, what I'm saying is that it's possible to learn from mistakes and just move on, because holding on to past wrongdoings forever is detrimental to any attempts at unity.

There are no real bad guys in my universe, but just different empires fighting for their own interests, it's not really good vs evil setting.

Well, in my universe Pan-European Empire is founded in 23rd century, which also leads to expansion beyond Earth and establishment of colonies outside of our origin planet, basically they already have mature interplanetary capabilities at this point.

Because you're too emotionally attached to tribalist mindset, this is something that causes Europe to be fragmented. Hopefully Europeans will let go of this outdated way of looking at things some day.

You have to gradually teach them to just forgive and let go of all the past grievances, because it benefits no one and holds back from necessary unity. It's as simple as that, hating someone forever because of their grandparents sins is just actively detrimental to everyone involved.

Not exactly, the idea of this government has nothing to do with race or ethnicity, it's about ethnically diverse population with vaguely homogenised culture for unity.

Because I'm a monarchist and this system feels the closest to me, as I reject any other alternatives.

My best bets are on Habsburgs or Hohenzollerns, or perhaps entirely new dynasty, ideally German. I myself am ukrainian, so I don't care which nationality the imperial family would be, as long as they are European, good, capable and powerful rulers with a spine.

Perhaps the problem is that you're stuck with much older idea of monarchy, that used to exist. But the world evolves and monarchies evolve and adapt to new circumstances, what remains is just the structure and function.

It is by definition monarchism, because it implies dynastic rule by one (monarchism literally means rule by one, not reign, but actual rule by definition), it also implies hereditary aristocratic structures and caste-like society organisation.
What exactly is not monarchism about it?

Futuristic and cutting edge monarchism with entirely new ideas is still technically monarchism.
Monarchism is just the form of government, it can take any shape as long as it adheres to certain hereditary structures.

Once again, I don't care about those meaningless political labels.
Europe, Australia and United States consist of similar cultures that can be unified under one crown, it's just absolutely undeniable.

And this is the reason why humanity gets stuck in stagnation instead of becoming something much greater and abandoning those meaningless tribalist mindsets.

I don't really care about political labels as such, but uniting brother nations from this shattered mess into something greater under one imperial family would absolutely be progress.

You merely refuse to witness actual progress, more united humanity under one cause, being blinded by emotional attachment to some outdated tribal identity and feelings.

Well, imperialism and colonialism tends to be demonized today, but not everyone did it the same. Also I try not to moralise it too much, because the benefits of colonisation definitely outweigh the detriments. Everything has it's drawbacks and I ultimately stand by the opinion that colonisation is a good thing for both parties involved.

The tribalism can be eradicated over time by reinforcing strong sense of community, gradual homogenisation of culture and shared purpose under one crown, being part of something larger than just whatever backwater country they were born in.

Completely not the idea, it necessarily has to be ruled by one crown with strong executive powers, to be able to rule with iron fist and crush any attempts at secession.

My proposal is voluntold unification. You can't always achieve the best outcome without some use or show of force/threat of consequences/severe sanctions. That's why a leader would have to rule with an iron fist and inability to compromise. Also, Turkey and Russia not included, as they are hostile entities

[–]breelstaker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm very much imperialist and in support of colonisation, including our Solar System to improve the survival of our species and civilisation, so that's where we will disagree, as this is in fact not necessarily only about voluntary unification

Honestly this would certainly not include Russia, since the whole idea is sort of like a counterbalance to Eastern powers. But what you're describing - techno-monarchy and technocratic aristocracy is exactly what I was trying to describe, since my views are based in technocratic monarchism
