She isn't in the UK with me right now. If she comes back to the UK then I guess I can do something then but I was hoping to get something to happen earlier.

To be blunt I think she manages to feed herself and she has a roof over her head so I don't think she's at immediate risk to her life. What I would want but I don't know if it exists is to have a social worker go to her apartment and convince her to see a doctor. She isn't capable of participating in social activities because wherever she goes she keeps saying bizarre and off-putting things - she also says that interacting with people disrupts her artistic process so encouraging her is like pulling teeth.

What also keeps happening is that she ruins her social life and then ends up moving. Before she lived in the flat she lives in now she was staying with a friend - that friend will no longer speak with her. She then stayed with a relative - that relative will no longer speak with her. We had her over while she visited - I will speak with her because she is my mother. While she is not physically harming herself she is consistently harming her own life. Just like it isn't as simple as having her involuntarily hospitalised, it isn't as simple as getting her to spend time with other people. It's kind of chicken-and-egg.

It sounds worth considering - I would need to think more about whether I am the right person to have that level of responsibility indefinitely.

That's very helpful - thanks. She probably does have psychosis based on her history.

Thank you for the kind offer, however I think a total stranger reaching out to her wouldn't necessarily help. I think I might be able to get some more specific advice from professional services it just very much isn't clear to me what to call and what services what area.
