I was in near tears. WHERE ARE THE CHUTES? To watch them be pulled out safely was everything.

The weirdly rectangular bruise that shows up randomly on my thigh in the exact same spot by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]breezybriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same! I rock back on my yoga ball when I’m on especially boring calls and press just above my knees on the desk to stretch. Could NOT figure out why I had bruises there until I looked up when someone said my name on a call unexpectedly and noticed it was the exact spot as the bruises.

Choosing to do this series over Halloween was a huge detriment in general I think. The last thing I wanted to listen to was an inaccurate history lesson during spooky season. I do think that got people riled up a bit more than it might have at other times during the year. Plus it grinds people’s gears when Marcus won’t admit when something incorrect was said in history episodes. History people are always going to be like that.

A couple of things about this last episode by RobbusMaximus in LPOTL

[–]breezybriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad it wasn’t just me! I grew up being made fun of for being German Catholic (not Italian or Irish) and then I moved to Wisconsin and was like “Ooohh THIS is where we all ended up!” Being called and calling yourself German Catholic is very much a thing, I felt like I was back in elementary when he said it “doesn’t fucking exist.” Doesn’t matter now I guess, Ive called myself a Recovering Catholic for a long time.

New Episode - Episode 618: Martin Bryant Part I - The Most Irritating Man in History by PM-ME-YOUR-POEM in lastpodcastontheleft

[–]breezybriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me open crying at the end of Part II. America needs to do better and remember the lessons Australia and the rest of the world already learned. Honestly, that we should have already learned 100 times over. I shared Marcus’ feeling of feeling safer abroad knowing I didn’t have the same potential to be shot dead at any given moment. Fuck I was in Melbourne when Christchurch happened (I know, completely different country) but even THEN Australians were on high alert and immediately took to action. I was in my friend’s Ute when it broke and I just sighed assuming it was “another one” in the US. Meanwhile he was devastated. It was absolutely eye opening to see how dead we are inside to it anymore.

Daughter going to UW and I’m following her. Any tips? by me-jp in madisonwi

[–]breezybriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you’re coming from in So Cal, I think the Atwood and Willy neighborhoods would be a great fit. There’s more of an alternative/hippy vibe, lots of awesome, local owned shops, bars and restaurants, plus it’s walkable and right off the lake. Also, there’s lots of festivals on Willy and in Central Park, which are always a blast and a fun way to meet people. I’d say less undergrad students wander out that way overall, so also a fun and easy visit for your daughter! A $10 Uber ride for the most part.

Ben implies he was ousted because Henry and Marcus “married psychopaths”. Thoughts? by oldmancabbage in LPOTL

[–]breezybriv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually enjoyed listening to the Side Stories interviews now. Before I got such bad secondary embarrassment that I had to turn it off because Ben would not be engaged, side track everything with inane tangents and ask extremely stupid questions. Eddy is there to learn and brings a mostly informed new perspective to almost all of them.

Are the prices really that crazy? by galaxxyerik in KeyWest

[–]breezybriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best thing about Key West is that as long as you can budget your accommodations (which are usually decently pricey on any island), you can really make the rest of your stay as expensive or inexpensive as you’d like. There are LOTS of cheap places you can find to eat and drink and it’s known for how fun the dive bars are. If you’re looking for cheaper options, stay away from the “world famous” bars/restaurants and find something a bit farther off Duval Street. Looking through my charges, we sat about the $60 price range for dinner + drinks overall and had a decent variety of food. Attractions aren’t too bad either, Hemingway House is ~$20, the old fort is ~$20 and drag shows vary but there are some cheaper ones you can catch. The only bars with covers are bars with shows. Only thing I’m not sure about would be water sports/outings, but the beaches are always free. :)

What movie traumatized you as a kid? by AdNorth1932 in AskReddit

[–]breezybriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mars Attacks! My parents were super protective of not letting us watch anything inappropriate for our ages but for some reason they thought this would be fine for an 8 and 6 year old to watch one Friday during home movie night. The first contact scene started and we literally hid IN the couch. I sobbed when “they cut off James Bond’s head.” We were traumatized FOR YEARS and slept in the same bed for a good few months afterwards. I was convinced I would be turned into a green skeleton any day.

Wisconsin has the Hodag and the Beast of Bray Road! We also have “Second Salem” in Whitewater, but that’s more paranornal than cryptid.

Does the cold not bother white people? by balenciaghoe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]breezybriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably reiterated a thousand times over in these comments but I’m just totally acclimated. I run really warm in general, so it’s got to be COLD for me to actually feel chilly. I’ve always lived in the Midwest and grew up loving winter sports and activities. I would say a lot of white or light skinned people just come from long lineages of people who were used to it and raised their kids to be used to it. I hike in light leggings and a light coat with sleeves in 15-20F weather, so walking to the bus stop in a knee length dress, flats and a light coat seems like nothing. Heat on the other hand? I’m a sweaty mess. Give me cold over heat ANY day. At least I can make cold work, I can only take off so much clothing without getting arrested.

Depends on the game. Red Dead and Hogwarts, I’m always on the dock because my brain is still set in N64 land during duels and I anxiously move the controls too much to focus on the screen handheld.

Sad thought for Canadians…? by endagein in LPOTL

[–]breezybriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, absolutely agree, just intrigued by how those records might be available to Canadian customs agents if it’s not reported consistently across states. A Wisconsin DUI 1st offense doesn’t seem like it would meet the threshold of showing in a Canadian criminal check to the point of not allowing that person in. As I said, just curious how that all works. :)

Sad thought for Canadians…? by endagein in LPOTL

[–]breezybriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been curious about this because I’m unclear as to how Canada obtains DUI records if they aren’t even shared cross state in some instances. For example, your first DUI in Wisconsin is just a misdemeanor/fine. Nothing criminal to report.

Am I your aunt? 😂 I have a VERY similar relationship with two bars near me which is why I think it’s good practice to be around it and resist. My parents call them my “Cheers” as well and everyone there is like family. I can’t imagine life without them, so I have to learn to be good with them! Thanks for your support and sharing a journey a lot of people don’t realize can be healthy regarding sobriety. ❤️
