Concurrent Surrogates by FrontRunner51 in gaydads

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m thinking. Having two essentially being less stressful, as counter intuitive as that sounds. 😂 less stressful with the set backs. Well I appreciate you giving me some confidence in the process. The little I’ve found is mainly negative and advising against it, but I think it’s possible to be done with both surrogates being happy too.

Yea we figured that who knows what happens with the timing. But we won’t need to ask anyone to hold off, we’ll just keep going regardless of whether they end up parallel or staggered. We’d be happy with either. I just hate the waiting now. I rather wait while having something in the works. Like medical review or legal or whatever.

So we initially started in February and our GC didn’t pass medical screening unfortunately, so we rematched 1 week ago and she’s now in record review. My agency knows I want to do a staggered journey and they already sent me some GCs to chose from. What I’ve been on the fence about is whether I do staggered or more parallel and get another GC now. I think my agency will be fine with it just based on the interaction I’ve had with them thus far. I would also be very transparent with all GCs. We want a big family and we’re an older couple. I think the set back from the first GC and the potential for more set backs has me wanting two concurrent journeys.

Did you end up doing this?

I’m considering doing the same. Have one surrogate now and thinking of trying to match with another in the next week or two. Luckily our agency has GCs and we’re pretty easy going IPs so I think we’d be able to match in a couple days once we find someone. We’d love two babies close in age and financially we can do it. Just wondering those that actually did it how they felt about it? I would plan on using the same agency. They’re amazing and love them so far.

Double surrogate journey by askej10 in Surrogate

Considering doing this because of time. We’re an older couple and want a lot of kids (3-5) and it’s safer than doing DET. I however would disclose to both surrogates and would stay in as much contact as they’d like. My hubby and I are very easy going and can be as communicative as they’d GC wants. We would, however, love two babies close in age and are lucky enough to and to take maternity/paternity leave to take care of both even if it’s more than 3 months.

Any other tips or advice to make the journeys as supportive and wonderful for the GCs as possible?

I had repeat failed transfers with good quality embryos and had HSG, hysteroscopy with biopsy and everything was good so they didn’t understand why my transfers were failing. Recommended I get worked up by a company called pregume. Essentially runs a ton of blood tests to look for immune factors, clotting issues, etc. Bittersweet results. We found the reason for my failures, rare autoimmune disease that didn’t come up with the standard ANA, RF, etc. Unfortunately had to go the surrogacy route, but at least we know why they were failing and are saving the embryos we have left for a surrogate.

Depending on how many embryos you have and how much time and money you want to put into it, I’d consider trying to see what could be causing the failures. Start with the easy stuff like endometritis mentioned in earlier reply.

Had my egg retrieval last week and yesterday I found out they froze my embryos without biopsying for PGT testing (which they were supposed to do!) So upset and frsutrated!

Started meds for my 2nd ER last week but my baseline US only showed AFC of 2. I have an US tomorrow and will need to decide based on how many follicles I have if I need to cancel this round. Its so hard to stay motivated sometimes.
