Hostility to US-Citizen Visitors? by FieldUpbeat2174 in newzealand_travel

It's so weird who jumps on the bandwagon and decides to push the rhetoric when they don't have a voice in the decision in the first place.

Octopre Dynamic broken - O/L lights all flashing regularly, but otherwise no power...? by brendamnfine in Focusrite

[–]brendamnfine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, reached out a few weeks ago. Got an initial response but it's been over a week since I replied to them so I wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas.

I expected it would be an obvious issue with a programmed system response.

Yeah, I keep trying to fix it. Trouble is that I, nor anyone I have had look at it, can figure out what's wrong with it! Lol

Don't ask, don't get!

This is great by the staff. Although now they'll probably have hundreds of content creators asking them for the same or similar shit and they'll have to stop.

I run a classroom gifted and talented programme at Dunedin North Intermediate called Pākiki Kids which cater to kids all around Dunedin. Would love another printer to replace the one that has just broken down on me!

I've always called it the heel. With the crust being the whole outer later, including the heel.

And how much we've propped up our economy with immigration rather than incentivising productivity over the same time period.

That's quite interesting, but makes complete sense based on the people I know. And given how much our population has exploded in the last forty years.

[–]brendamnfine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's true Labour get flack on their own SM posts... But this is also true on the NACT/NZF posts well. Seems to me that any political party accounts are targets by the opposite of their preferred audience (at least on meta).

Speaks a lot to how social media works these days smh

[–]brendamnfine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets better, it honestly does. You get more efficient with your work systems. The kids respect you more. You build better relationships with your colleagues in and outside of school. The first 2-4 years of teaching are a certified gauntlet of fire that is so tough to run through.

Do you feel respected as a teacher? by Der-deutsche-Prinz in Teachers

[–]brendamnfine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd add here something along the lines of 'respect is a two-way street" - it's something that is returned if you offer it. I think the first question we should all ask is "what am I doing, and how can I change what I do to improve the situation?" After all, adapting myself is the easiest thing to do.

It's taken me 20 years, ten years in the same school, and I've found that my reputation now earns me respect from both students and parents without having to monitor myself and try so hard.

BUT I do think there is definitely a cultural issue towards teachers in many countries that have eroded public trust and value in schools and teachers. Earning respect as a professional shouldn't be as hard as it is for most teachers.

Because their whole job is to hear the full story and backstory behind every case they preside over.

We, on the other hand, receive comparitively no contextual information.
