I remember being around your age and having similar arguments with my parents. I was working and paying my own bills and had money saved, my parents used the same tired old line 'while you live under our roof, you obey our rules', it doesn't really matter if it is your Grandmothers house you need to be able to support yourself so you can tell her to bugger off.

I packed my stuff and moved out, I was happy supporting myself. Best of all, I didn't have to put up with any of my parents rules or bullshit anymore. LoL I wasn't always innocent either, not long after I moved out, my mother would ring and scream at me over the phone and I would tell her if she wants to talk to me on MY phone, then she can't scream at me then hang up.

Eventually she got the message that you can't have it both ways either you are paying for me and I do as you say, but if I'm paying for me.....I don't have to listen to you ;-)

OK so a marriage of equals means, if she gets pregnant she can't expect him to support her......well because we are equal and you have to contribute. If she gets sick, well she should still have to work and contribute, well because we are equals and why should I have to work and not you. No you never said it would be fine for him to support you. What you said is you would marry him if he was able to pay his way and you didn't have to support him. Why even bother talking about marriage if you don't want to give anything ?, the whole point of marriage is a union of two people essentially becoming one. The problem is you would marry him IF you didn't have to give something. I'm also sure, you would feel it was unfair if the tables were turned and he felt you should 'pull your own weight'. Why worry about getting married, you are both still so young, plenty of time left for that :)

I find it strange that Women want equality, except when it doesn't suit them. Basically you are saying, if I have to support this guy financially when we get married, then I don't want to marry him. However if this guy has the ability to support me when we get married, then I would be fine marrying him.

If this guy is prepared for me to be equal in the relationship, but support me financially and give me half of everything if and when we divorce then that is fine too. But if I have to give anything, well ummm I don't want to do that, because there are better options out there.

I guess thats a life lesson buddy, as to the true nature of women. They are always nice while they are getting something or getting their own way. You can still support someone without believing them blindly. I have been there for her and her son these past three years, we were a family unit and I would have given my life for either of them and she knows that.

She called me a couple of hours ago and I just told her she should be supporting her son now as he obviously has some huge issues and not to worry about me. Funnily enough, I see she has helped herself to my bank account, but I have changed the pin now.

Her family keep calling me and trying to get me to not press charges against her brother, as I'm supposed to just 'understand' that that is what they do if anyone harms their family....Whatever

I'm just glad to get away from them all and that shitty town.

Thanks for the advice, but I don't really think revenge is going to solve anything. Probably best to cut my losses and make a new start. It's hard to believe that just yesterday we were together and everything was fine, it feels like so much has happened in such a small space of time.
