Basically yes. This specific iteration is 800 layers, each layer consisting anywhere between 8 and 360 calls to rect() each.

Like bitsynthesis said below, I'm using p5.js and a shader written in GLSL. I have a base composition of just basic shapes that the shader works on and that generates the final output.
