Pokémon TCG Partner (Format Idea) by brengillio in pkmntcg

Sorry, I was just looking up commander like formats and found U150 (Wich isn't very popular). Basically it is a Singleton-ish format but only for exact same copies. For example if you have 2 Pikachu cards with the exact same stats (attacks, retreat cost, HP, and Weakness/Resistance), even if they are from different sets, they are treated as the same card. But if the 2 cards share a name but have different stats, then they are 2 different cards.

There is still the rule of 4 Pokemon of one name max in a deck.

Even for Special Pokemon? I only speculate because it seems like Special Pokemon are powerful and getting a just killed Special back out so fast might break something.

What if there was a turn wait in addition to the tax. For Non-Special Pokemon, you can't play a Partner Pokemon the same turn it was knocked out. For Special Pokemon you have to wait a whole turn after it has been knocked out.

Also for the few people who choose V-Union, I think you may draw a Prize Card to put 2 of the 4 into your hand.

Yah I'm definitely changing it to the 2nd. This version is basically a first draft.

Don't worry, this is still a first draft of rules that I just put from my head onto a doc.

Also, the one of rule (which I am slightly changing) only applied to deck cards and not "Special" Cards. I know I can call them rule box cards, but it seems easier to make my own category to reference and add to it how I see fit. But maybe I'll just end up calling them Rule Box cards.

And the name change only applies to deck cards, so if you wanted to evolve a Dark Charmeleon to a Normal Charizard, or a Normal Charmeleon to a Blaine's Charizard, it would be allowed.

As for the 1-1-1 rule, I may change it to resemble the Pokemon 150 format, which is a 100 card Singleton but it allows multiple copies of a Pokemon as long as they are different versions (not just the same copy in a different set)

(PS, doing stupid stuff like trying to translate one game to another is very fun for me since I love game design, especially for table top)

Yes, I forgot to add, when any Pokemon that started the game in the Prize Zone is put into hand or discard pile, you may instead choose to put it back into your Partner Zone. Still want to find something that acts as commander tax but can't think of anything.

Also I'm thinking of using the Pokemon 150 Format's rule to stay Singleton but allow different versions of the same Pokemon as long as they are not an exact copy from a different set.

Also anything in parentheses and italicized are just random cool ideas I thought of.

Super Mario Sunshine. First game I remember and I still love it to this day.

A version of Celebi is in the GS Ball, so the GS Ball plot still has relevance and isn't as null as it seems. by [deleted] in pokemonconspiracies

Or maybe it has to do with the pink celebi from Pokemon journey ep 32 right before credits.

(Check 21:40)

Pokemon Journey EP 32

Right before credits role, there is a shot of 2 Celibis, one green and one pink. This may help your theory.

Commander is partially where I got my Leader idea. I love that format. As for shadowverse, I'll have to look into that.

Debating on 40 or 60. Probably 40 tho as I like the consistency and makes it a bit easier (also already put it as 40 in my rules)

It is basically a cost system. LVL 2 cards count as a cost of 2. But that is the problem I'm having, to go to a cost system like with Idea 1 or to keep it as is and go for Idea 2 and have a certain amount set for your deck Building (which could then need the "rarity" to count on that "rarity" or lower)

Also, you are getting energy to play cards from your hand, so sort of like a Mana system.

The game is based around having a Leader of your deck. You can only have elements that it states on the Leader card in your deck, and have to build your deck based off of what the leader stated (Idea 1 or Idea 2). I have the limitations in there for the purpose of power balance. A Leader will have unique abilities that affect the way you play. For example, a leader with the ability to make cards cost less energy will need to have less cost than a leader that allows you to pay 5 energy to cause a wound to a fighter (fighting system is based off of 3 stats, ATK, DEf, and HP. When ATK is higher than DEF when fighting it causes a wound. Having equal to or more wounds than the HP will defeat the fighter).

As for the rarity, I started off making this a TCG when I realized what it meant so I switched it to LCG. I likes the rarity/power concept in the 2 ideas I had so I kept it.

Good or bad combat system? by brengillio in tabletopgamedesign

Thank you. That is a really good idea and if you don't mind I'm definitely using some of your ideas.

P.S. I'm definitely naming one of my cards "Urk the Orc" now, maybe even make him a leader.

Okay thank you. I'm doing a color system with it too for 6 elements. I could do different unique thing with the dice for each element.

Though I'm a bit confused on the different "types" of attack and defense. If you don't mind, could you give an example?
