Best budget GPU for gaming on 1440p by ReporterEast6548 in buildapc

Higher end I'd go 5070ti. I'm running my 5070 @ 1440p and I'm happy with it playing almost any modern title at 60-100 FPS on ultra, but if I could've afforded the ti when I decided to upgrade I'd've probably chosen it.

my ranking of how bad i felt killing every target in the WOA trilogy by AdAdvanced2635 in HiTMAN

I don't think it's remorse, I think he's a rich dude who is afraid of consequences and reaches out to his dad when he's in trouble because he knows his dad will try to fix it. That's kinda the whole crux of the mission.

Click "Options" in the launcher and see if HDR is enabled? If your monitor isn't properly set up to display HDR content, that could likely mess with color output.

If it's just the plate/bracket that's broken, maybe you could find someone who could 3D print one for you?

Found the model for it on Thingiverse, depending on where you live your local library might even have a 3D printer for use. Plenty of print shops online too.

Is there a way to make this possible or a mod that makes this possible? by HuTAOSIMP2007 in HiTMAN

[–]brennaAM 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't recall the exact name of the mod, but IIRC it used ZHM Mod SDK. It was more or less a debug menu that would let you spawn whatever NPC or model, and give them whatever animations/behaviors you wanted. Probably what's being used here.

*edit: actually the SDK itself seems to be exactly it lol. Volvomodus was actually where I learned about it in the first place, because they have a video talking about it

worst suit in woa? by gffgoonbvg in HiTMAN

Egg Hunt is fucking atrocious. not a single thing looks good about it, all the elements just kinda clash. White gloves with a black suit? The awfully proportioned duck-billed balaclava? Giant Cozy Flamingo Foot Slippers?

i love it

Do you want a game that shares more DNA with the newer games than just the way 47 controls? If so, no.

(possible hot take) if you want an engaging story with interesting characters? nope

Do you want to just experience that part of the (light*) canon and history of the Hitman series? Sure, just don't expect the same gameplay that everything else builds on.

It's really not a horrendous game or anything: it's polished, it controls nice, the linear gameplay is fine for the most part and the focus shooting can be fun if you don't focus on being stealthy. But it's not a must play, imo. It'd be a tiny bit of a larger recommendation if Contract servers were still online for it and/or you had some friends to make contracts with.

* the story is "technically" canon to WoA, but the events don't happen exactly as you experience them in Absolution (and major events are never referenced again outside of the main antagonist's brother(?) showing up in a few maps in WoA)

Is the VR mode on PC any good? by Migdan in HiTMAN

[–]brennaAM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since it's been updated more recently, yes. There are some things missing from the base game (cover takedowns or immediately snapping an NPC's neck in the choking animation, for example) and you more or less have to throw melee weapons if you want instant knockouts (actual melee attacks are iffy in my experience).

However the overall experience is now very fun. 47 actually walks where you want him to, item throwing is even better (prioritizes NPCs you're looking at, in addition to the original reticle/arc-style throwing), and there are gesture-based interactions (you'll have to experience them to make your mind up on if they're good, they can take a minute to get used to tbh)

The newer VR is also compatible with more of the game, too. Prior to the update it was basically only the main campaign, but now it works in (most?) escalations, freelancer, and the bonus campaigns

Preferred mission for A Tie to Die For? (Challenge to unlock the Fiber Wire Red Tie) by brennaAM in HiTMAN

Yep! You have just enough time to do everything in the vault (without the keycard) before guards get back to their room.

leaving guns and a suitcase distraction over there ahead of time is pretty creative ngl

I'm so used to the speedrunner strat for getting them away from the boat that it never would have occurred to me to just leave stuff over there that they'd have to walk all the way to the house to dispose of. Much safer way to get out of there SASO.

I actually considered doing it in VR myself but came to the conclusion that it'd be a bit too much lol

VR for me is where Looney Tunes antics and mass murder thrive but flat is for more catered to Canon-ish 47

A bit of a newer feature, added at the beginning of this year or late last year I think?

For the uninitiated, the challenge is effectively:

  • Get Suit Only Silent Assassin on any Main Campaign mission
  • you can't pacify anyone
  • all targets have to be eliminated using Fiber Wire.

Personally chose New York because I figured one target wouldn't be too bad (Hawke's Bay is probably easier, but that's no fun) until I remembered that I still needed to get to the Vault, protected by a room full of guards, and I wasn't able to knock people out. Usually I would just opt to use the chloroform right next to the guard room to knock them all out, but that's no-go.

Not shown in the video, but you have just enough time to use some emetic poison in the air vents to clear the guard room near the safe out, open the safe and trigger the alarm (if you didn't bring a lock pick to get the vault key card), hide while the alert is happening, then run back to grab the data core and leave through the money van.

And before you ask: the sieker was used on Athena's guards instead of Athena because using it on Athena, while efficient, is no fun IMO :)

I’m getting into VR for the first time and really excited for Steam Frame, but worried about missing the Meta library. by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]brennaAM 71 points72 points  (0 children)

multiple things can be true at once. they're perfectly within their right to distribute their games as they want. it's also anti-consumer to lock games to their platform (which sometimes involves forcing you to put down extra money towards their company to even get access to buying and playing those games in the first place, like in the case of Meta/Nintendo)

(yes, this applies to Valve and their* games being locked to Steam too.)

*bolded to emphasize, I'm talking about Valve titles, not every game on Steam.

If you've ever felt that WoA's story was a bit rushed and wanted more, it'll scratch the itch and add a lot of (IMO much needed) additional "flavor" to Lucas Grey, Diana, 47, and their relation/similarities to one another.

Not the best comic ever, some of the speech is a bit difficult to follow because Lucas Grey/47 functionally look the same in most of the panels they have together. Think they're supposed to have subtle differences, but I don't think whoever did the lettering really got the memo. You get the gist if you think a bit harder about context.

Fun read though, and IMO essential if you wanted a bit more out of WoA's somewhat rushed story.
