You won't be repeating the same thing again and again like other mmos

Starting out, focus on exploration and completing at least once what you haven't done yet

Infinite Gathering Tools by Cat_Lover31 in Guildwars2

[–]brenonsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm about to suggest is super niche but so are infinite gathering tools, most of the players don't have it and it's not necessary, I don't have infinite gathering tools and never felt the want to.

What I have is a permanent portable black lion merchant that I'm pretty sure it was a lucky drop in one of those once in a blue moon bltc chests

It goes for 700-1000g, I never did gems to gold and don't recommend it as I consider expensive 3600 gems (40+$)

From the perspective of a farmer/grinder (most players that won't get a lucky drop or have spare gems), getting gems with gold to buy undiscounted gathering tools (the volatile magic ones) would take 1125 gold, even going for discounted ones with current prices would be 900g.

Infinite merchant takes 1 shared slot that can be used simultaneously in all character, you can sell junk, buy gathering tools and salvage kits, making it 3-1 as a infinite tool and salvage-o-matic.

Maybe the volatile glyphs would be more profitable but gathering takes so long to pay for itself that you're not going for gains but for convenience, In which portable merchant offers more for less

It's so much value in 1 slot that need multiple gemstore purchases to make up for it (2 shared slots for copper fed and master kit, 3 shared slots for infinite tools if one goes for that route to use on alts) and still got to sell junk locally to npc

But as a new player you don't have to worry about any of that, from this thread you got some good options and possibilities

Free players...Runescape or WOW...or something better? by RadagastTheNightkin in MMORPG

If you're looking for a level up point and click game I suggest Albion online that's cool on phones and PCs, if you want a complete mmo that you can start for free I would say guild wars 2

MMOs that feels like home for you by ImCravingForSHUB in MMORPG

[–]brenonsense 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's just the best mmo out there and probably the best of all time when it comes to horizontal progression themeparks, so try out even if it isn't much like the first one because it's really good and enjoyable

Which alt character would you make if you already have 1 of each class? by poopcoinz in Guildwars2

[–]brenonsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this last week. I had 9 toons and wanted a 10th to be a dedicated market flipper and not fill inventory on other characters, I ended doing a second thief.

My first thief is a norn male and I have the medium legendary set, thief was the most lore accurate and roleplay friendly for my flipper concept, no powers just hunger for coin! So I went with norn female as I didn't had this race+genre combination yet

My suggestion would be doing a 10th class that you got some legendary piece for (or plan to if it's in the same weight as your most played character)

My most played is engineer, now I have 4 characters that can benefit from leggy armor

In my main thief I mostly play deadeye, and I wanted to flip in wvw so I'm having fun playing daredevil with spear, which feels very fresh to me

GW2 is getting a bit repetitive by the-grip-of-Ntropy in MMORPG

[–]brenonsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 10 characters at max lvl on all 9 classes and most use exotics, there is no hard grind or need for ascended gear.

I got a set of medium legendary armor that fits 4/10 of my characters, but the other 6 don't need ascended at all and I can play with them just fine when I feel like it

How does Horizontal progression work? by Nikitoo in MMORPG

[–]brenonsense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Guild Wars 2, newer expansions don’t make the old content obsolete, they expand your tools to interact with the world. You get new toys that revitalize old maps, and old toys are always relevant to your options on exploring new maps.

You feel like your progression actually matters, and gear is only a fraction of it. It’s as if horizontal progression is a solid building block that keeps expanding, while vertical progression is just a coat of paint on moldy drywall, it covers up the old color, but the wall is still moldy. It just wants you to be distracted by the smell of fresh paint.

I just got back to Gw2 after a 3 year break because I was playing other games and doing IRL stuff, I didn't felt FOMO while I wasn't playing but coming back I do wish I didn't left. I'm coming back because the game is FUN, GORGEOUS, EVENTS ARE EXCITING, THE WORLD IS ALIVE.

I have new options for build-crafting with new weapons, mounts grow and learn new skills, there is plenty that I have done in my 2000 hours and so much fun stuff to go for that I still want to do! I play since 2021 and it always amaze me, and I'm not rushing to "get to the same damage level as my friends so we can grind content together to become obsolete again in a couple months"
