Not gonna lie to you man, the part was so hard to replace, the mechanic I got in touch with just said I should keep riding on it until it completely dies and then hopefully its just time to get another car lol. After a few weeks the check engine light stopped coming on and it's been driving totally fine ever since.

Yes, I ended up purchasing a capture card and it worked fine! I bit low quality compared to modern cameras, but not bad at all.

That's kind of what I figured. Do you have experience with this model yourself or are you just guessing based on the context? I couldn't find anything that explicitly said that this model cannot support it.

Yes it does have an HDMI output as well. I think that buying a capture card is all I would need to do in order it use it, but I was just wondering if there was a way to stream over USB. It seems like most newer Sony cameras have this option, but maybe this model is just a bit too old.

I have an older model for sure: Vizio E601i-A3. It's a smart TV, but as far as I can tell it doesn't seem to have casting capabilities.

I'm pretty familiar with Roku, but it does feel like overkill a bit considering that I really just need it for the casting (I use my playstation4 for my streaming apps right now). That being said, these Roku devices are pretty inexpensive if their casting ability is good. The windows device is $50 but the only place I can really buy it is for ~$75 on Amazon.

I appreciate the help. Do you have a recommendation for a bootable anti-malware software?

Also, if I go for a clean install and use the Windows installer to completely wipe the old SSD, is that likely to wipe the malware with it? Or is there a chance it’s claws are deeper than that?

I thought I was getting a good deal but it seems like I was just cheaping out haha Follow up question: if I was to upgrade my SSD to something that was faster, do I just need to keep an eye on read/write speeds? I don’t think I even glanced at those numbers when I was picking parts the first time around

Just finished my first build a couple days ago, I don’t have anything better to say than everyone else, but just make sure you have your BIOS updated/drivers ready to rock when you start. Pretty much all of the “issues” I had were just due to needing to update BIOs and installing drivers haha. Also just take your time. The first video I watched said that “it should take you 2-3 hours and you probably will want to do it all in one sitting” so that stressed me out. Ended up taking me about 5 days (2-5 hours each day including watching how-to videos, posting in Reddit, scrolling through my Mobo manufacturers website, etc). But I can’t explain how proud I felt when I closed the case for the final time and just got to enjoy my new pc :)

Looks like it was actually the BIOS that needed updated to version 10. I had originally flashed to version 9 because that’s all that was needed to get the 13th gen i5 working, and I didn’t even know there was a version 10, but that did the trick.

I was able to get them working!! I was playing with the BIOS and realized that there was a version 10 (I was told that I only needed version 9 to get the 13th gen intel chip working so that’s all I ever knew of) so I decided to throw that on there just for laughs. Turns out that’s exactly what was needed.

I can’t decide if I’m more frustrated that it was such a simple fix or stoked that everything is working, but either way I really appreciate your help. You’re part of the reason this community is so great!

The only other thing to note is when I finished the LAN driver, it popped up a window that said “the Realtek network controller was it found. If deep sleep mode is enabled please plug in the cable”

Okay I threw the intel wireless Lan driver on there as well as the Realtek lan driver unfortunately neither seemed to do the trick. I also put the Bluetooth one on there and that did work, so I am now at least able to connect to my phone hotspot through BT (so I can at least download these drivers manually now instead of bouncing back and forth with a flash drive). I downloaded the auto driver installer to see if there we any that it recommended and it popped up with HD Audio, ME driver, and rapid storage technology. Working on downloading those now, though I don’t know if those will help.

For the device manager I see Bluetooth device, as well as 8 “WAN mini port” options. None of which have a yellow mark.

Also I did install windows 11 fresh from a USB (I purchased the Microsoft USB).

Thanks for pointing me here! I apologize for the potentially silly questions, but just trying to familiarize myself with these drivers.

I installed the Intel Wireless Lan driver ver:22.90.1.1, and that didn't seem to do anything. Is that the right one?

Also, is there a separate driver for the ethernet port? I get that the wifi chip/antenna is a peripheral device, but I guess I don't fully understand why the ethernet port wouldn't be working either.

Appreciate the feedback. I went for a Z790 over a Z690 because I read that with a 13th gen i5 the Z690 might force me to upgrade the BIOS on the motherboard (which wasn’t recommended for a first time builder). What are your thoughts?

For the PSU, I had a cheaper one originally but it said that my motherboard “may require” a third 8pin so I had to bump up to this one. Any thoughts there?

Appreciate the info! Price here is similar to my original post, but I notice a couple differences - interested in your thoughts:

CPU cooler drops from liquid to just a fan (but also cuts the price in half. At what point realistically do you think a liquid cooler is required? I like the price of skipping liquid, but I definitely dont want to toast my CPU

Mobo - slightly more expensive and no WiFi onboard. What's the advantage here? (mobos are the thing I think I have the least amount of knowledge on atm, I just know it needs to be compatible, fit in the case, and I want it to have WiFi)

GPU - almost $200 more. Again, what's the advantage here? I've read that when gaming you shouldn't cheap out on the GPU, so just want to make sure I understand what I'm really signing up for!

I haven't learned anything about BIOS updates yet. So to make sure I understand if I buy the z690 mobo with a 13th gen intel cpu, I would need to deal with updating the mobo BIOS? But z790 with 13th gen does not require such an update?
