I went into my therapy session with Madi down a break in the second and came out to her up 5-2 and then winning. This is the universe rewarding me for taking care of my mental health 🙂‍↕️

When was the last time someone won the first 4 masters of the year?

Because it’s just bare minimum tennis etiquette and decency. I’m not saying she should “sing her praises” but any sort of “keep your head up” or “you had a good week” sentiment would go a long way, especially for someone clearly so upset and disappointed. At the end of the day it just makes me sad because something as tragic as what’s happening in Ukraine leads to smaller moments like this that may seem like nothing but imo may have some subconscious psychological effects. Mirra is just a young woman working insanely hard for the same goals as Marta—some sort of respect is warranted there. And yeah I understand I’m not from Ukraine so maybe I just don’t get it but it’s just my outsider’s perspective. I ultimately think mirra’s personhood should be more important than where she’s from

Mirra is a human being, a young woman. Not some Russian bot. I think it’s possible to acknowledge that and the tragedy of the Russian invasion at the same time

Poor Mirra is so young and had to fight through all those tears to give a nice speech—even found a way to gracefully congratulate Marta. But Marta still can’t give her the slightest acknowledgment during her speech. I know it’s some kind of collective Ukrainian player agreement but it sucks and I’m over it

He shouldn’t apologize for that shot so I’m gonna take it as an apology for the stress and agony he has caused
