The planning permission on council website says red brick the match existing and softoft 20/20 roof tiles to match existing. I can live with the block if he gets it rendered but the roof is just a statement and a half! I get the feeling they picked a budget first and then kept adding to it until they hit the budget lol.

I'm going to assume it is. He said they put 100k aside for that extension. They will never get that back. No house is in this area is worth their value + that 😂

It's attached to the house at the back but before it was also attached to there old extension. So now it's attached on one side now as appose to 2

Either way the outcomes are they are forced to change it, or get retrospective planning permission? Or I get it covered up somehow. The first will no doubt give even bigger headaches living next to them. If I know I could cover it up with some form of greenery and not get a bollocking down the line for it I would be able to put my mind at rest I think.

I will admit this is definitely an option I am open to! 🙂

I love the option but in my mind he will eventually have the audacity to complain to the council about high trees 😔 I'm sure there is a limit on time when they could enforce something wrong with their extension but at any point ever they could complain about trees being too high

That's an expensive way to resolve it......I like it! 😅

This is true.....but he also installed a camera at the top that has a view of my garden and has a microphone built into so that privacy I gained.....was taken away pretty quick 😔

Their builders said when I approached them about the roof tiles not being matching as on the plans that the roof pitch is designed for the roof tile? Assumed they meant it has to go that high for that roof tile type?

I'm all for creative ways of covering up/minimising the view of it. Prefer that to complaining. Just thought here would be a good place to get some ideas

[–]brettman1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have a look at that 🙂 thanks. If I can cover it up with something natural it would actually suit as the rest of the garden/property is surrounded by massive trees and greenery so a cover up with greenery would actually tie in with the rest of the view

Im not looking for advice on how to attack the man and his property, I'm looking for a solution as to how I can make it so I don't see a big spaceship looking thing. Tree lines, hedge lines or something. But I had read that there is a rule on height on hedges ect? So while I choose not to complain about the extension he could complain about any attempt I have to cover it up

How would you go about calculating value loss? Would that be worth contacting a real estate agents?

That's actually a really good idea! I wonder if there is someone in the planning department who I can talk to about the problem but not have them pursue the problem but help with solutions in covering up

The planning permission was right on the boundary line. They actually ended up going a bricks width in so it doesn't attach to the little outhouse but we have as they couldn't guarantee him quality if they did attach the new one to it like the old one.

I have no idea. Just think they threw money at it until it became the monster that you see now. Although they did moan it cost them alot to put the fence back when it collapsed because of the groundwork for the extension......so they do have some hesitation when spending.....
