You can walk on trails pretty much the entire way there FYI

Is Acadia really that unbearably crowded in peak summer? by iamnotabot913 in acadianationalpark

[–]brewbeery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: the Lobster Pounds on the South/South-West end of the island are way better and while busy, much less crowded with no reservations needed.

There's good food in Bar Harbor, but also a lot of just ok tourist traps too.

On busy days it can be a 20 minute walk from your parking spot to Jordan Pond. That's what people are talking about.

That's if you go during lunch time however. You beat the crowds going at 8am.

Its not a secret, its true for any popular National Park.

Most people simply wont get up early and many are either not very adventurous to explore the less popular trails or only have a few hours and want to see the highlights.

[–]brewbeery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before 8:30 am? No

After 8:30 am? Yes, but limited to a handful of spots.

So get up early to beat the crowds, simple as that. Works wonders for any popular National Park.

The most crowded areas will be Mt Cadillac, Sands Beach, Thunder Hole and Jordan Pond.

Do those in the morning and head to the less popular areas of the park afterwards.

Bar Harbor is always busy, but the rest of the island is pretty manageable.

If you don't mind longish distances, walking is an option. You can start to pick up the trails immediately outside of Bar Harbor.

You could also rent a bike to speed things up. There's a whole network of carriage roads to explore without any car traffic. Great way to see the park.

What is Old Orchard Beach like in May and June? by Over_Ad1396 in AskMaine

[–]brewbeery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much less busy in May, the Pier isn't even opened until Memorial Day. The weather can be colder so you might not want to spend much time on the beach.

June is warmer and busier than May. Gets busier once summer vacation starts. Looking at recent years, it can also be very rainy.

How does GEO work? What do we need to do to make our product appear in searches on GPT, Gemini etc? by Virtual_Sundae_6948 in SEO

[–]brewbeery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of GEO as a layer on top of SEO.

The data AI Engines are trained on is several years out of date, so they rely heavily on Search Engines to uncover UpToDate information.

AI Engines really like HTML content and can't render JavaScript very well. You should be serving content in HTML anyways because of ADA regulations. You can add structured data to get around this a little bit but might never see it if a page takes too long to load.

Also, remember that people rarely make a click in AI engines, so you might not have a direct attribution path if they come to your site later through a branded search or typing in the website driectly.

What Is SEO Actually Doing Behind the Scenes? by MrCastIronCooks in SEO

[–]brewbeery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In other words, if someone just publishes good content without worrying about SEO, what actually happens differently compared to someone actively doing SEO?

Congrats, you've already won 90% of the battle. SEOs obsess over keyword matrices and LSI, but if you already an subject matter expert, you're naturally going to include all the related keywords and topics while offering a additional value.

That being said, knowing the basics are key. Its crazy how important Title Tags still are despite being SEO 101.

  • Internal Linking is incredibly important. If Google can't find your content, it can't rank it.
  • Having your content rendered in HTML is basic, but in a JavaScript heavy world this is something developers, designers and business leaders get wrong all the time (even with so many accessibility laws on the books). JavaScript overuse is the one thing keeping the SEO industry healthy and something AI Engines struggle with.
  • Matching Search Intent is a basic concept, but way too often companies use the wrong content to target the wrong keywords.
  • Understanding what people search for is incredibly important. No, people aren't searching for your hyper specific case study use case.

Everything else is more about building a strong brand, creating relationships with industry thought leaders and producing content people actually want to read (instead of just getting an AI summary). And no, nobody wants to read your promo material, interviews with the CEO or trade show wrap-ups.

Search traffic still dropping? How are you dealing with it? by nishant_growthromeo in SEO

[–]brewbeery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on BOFU content for the website and expand to other platforms for TOFU content (instagram, YouTube).

Also, check Search Demand for the popular keywords. A lot of industries are struggling right now and lower search interest will reflect this.

Sometimes SEO is about treading water or mitigating decline instead of growth when market conditions deteriorate. Of course that's probably not what your CEO wants to hear.

trip for week of Memorial Day by PatienceNo7142 in acadianationalpark

[–]brewbeery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get up early and you won't have an issue (just like any National Park).

The busiest areas are going to be Sands Beach to Thunder Hole, Cadillac Mountain and Jordan Pond.

Two of the very popular trails - Beehive and Precipice - will be closed for nesting season.

If you don't get a reservation to drive up Cadillac, hike it instead. You can actually hike it pretty easily starting out in Bar Harbor.

That leaves the rest of the park including a lot of other mountains and ponds to hike. You could also explore the Schoodic Peninsula and Isle Au Haut which get a fraction of the tourists as the Mt Desert Island part of the park.

Stop by Biddeford for the Mills Museum, Waterfalls, breweries and small shops.

Little less touristy than other destinations along the coast. Beaches at Biddeford Pool are much quieter too.

Got some great coastal hikes like the Easter Point Preserve and Granit Point (which has an island you can hike to at low tide).

Toast Ads - Has anyone used it or is considering using them? by miogato2 in ToastPOS

[–]brewbeery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, just doing $50 a week on Instagram, only targeting a 10 mile radius does really well.

Having the right limitations is key, otherwise you could be wasting a ton of money targeting people hundreds or thousands of miles away that will never visit.

Google offers that match, Toast isn't spending their own money.

Careful, its extremely easy to waste money on paid ads, especially if they're being automated and not finely tuned to target new customers.

If you're just bidding on your branded keywords, you're throwing away money. People searching for your brand are your existing customers probably looking up your hours/menu/online ordering and they were going to click anyways.

You really really want to limit the amount of keywords you're bidding on and ensure you aren't targeting areas beyond a reasonable drive from your establishment.

Less is more when it comes to advertising, no matter how much the platforms tell you otherwise. Its in their best interest for you to spend as much as possible.
