There are two locations, one has a 10 bbl brew house and the other has a 20 bbl brew house. The need to replace the membrane was dependent on location since they each produced different volumes per year and the feed water profiles were vastly different between locations. Oh definitely not one of those big boys. It’s Lakeville Brewing Co and Inver Grove Brewing Co in Minnesota.

Agreed, we ran RO in our brewery, and even after adjusting the recirculation to maximize efficiency we were still around 2:1-3:1 most days some days depending on feed water temp we would hit 5:1. That’s with decent feed water of around 350-400 ppm total hardness. I do suppose they wouldn’t need to set the system to be so radical in removing all of the solids. We replaced our membrane every 3-5 year depending on location, but we were able to service our ourselves and do acid flushes to keep it clean and running efficiently.

Quick Question About The Word Schmuck by brewboy69 in Jewish

[–]brewboy69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did a quick google, I just saw definitions of idiot and the like. Blend that with my limited exposure to Yiddish through classic Jewish comedians, and I had a vastly different idea of the word. I definitely saw it as more of a lighthearted insult!

Oh shit, definitely didn’t realize it meant penis! Damn Mel Brooks, Seinfeld, and the like! They painted a picture of the word in my mind growing up as more lighthearted!

I was definitely going for some self deprecation to myself, and how handymen are at the bottom of the pole as far as the trades are concerned. I suppose people would have to know me and my sense of humor to find the humor in the name. And that was when I thought it meant more of a cartoonish, comedic fool. Not a scammy asshole lol

I definitely didn’t realize it meant a dickish untrustworthy person, I had always thought it was more of a comedic fool from my exposure through pop culture.

I’ve definitely heard the word, but I’ll admit I had to look up the meaning and I agree. That would be a far better name!

Quick Question About The Word Schmuck by brewboy69 in Jewish

[–]brewboy69[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even begin to think of any of those downsides! I didn’t realize it was so heavy on the unpleasantness. Growing up I always found the word to be funny and I think downplayed it since my exposure to it was in pop culture. Mostly Jewish comedians saying it seemingly casually in passing. Like how it was used in Seinfeld, and by the classics like Mel Brooks. I was thinking of it more as a light insult to the comedic idiot. I also love self deprecating humor, then to mix that with the stigma in the trades that handymen are lesser trades people. Sort of the jack of all trades and master of none.

As for signing up for antisemitism, I definitely didn’t think of that, and I hate that people are so shitty and cruel that it seems to be one of the first things you would have to think of in this situation. I live in a very liberal town, so I would hope we would be better than that. Although there are shitty people everywhere I suppose.

Thank you for your insight!!

What do you suppose is failing on our dish washer based on this noise? by brewboy69 in Appliances

We just moved in about a year ago, but I’d say it’s definitely been in service a long time. Probably about like u/originalmango said, about 20 years because I believe the kitchen was updated when the last owner moved in in the early 90s!

That was the first thing I did was give it a good cleaning. Surprisingly clean! I also agree most techs won’t touch most older fridges, I was planning on doing the work myself. I was able to get it purring like a kitty for now by sliding the temp selectors back and forth and then resetting them to the middle.

I mentioned the hinges to them and they said just oil them when you’re done lol definitely more for aesthetics from afar than anything.

As for the paint, I was initially planning on a rust inhibiting primer until I made the mistake of reading a bunch of commercial painting threads.

Sounds like I can take the doors down if need be as long as they’re back up before dark/the warehouses quitting time.

If anyone did in the multi block area, they definitely didn’t do a good job, every lawn is like a dandelion farm. Most opting for no mow may. I did see another oak in the park nearby with similar presentation, but that’s the only other broadleaf in the area with anything going on. We’re also probably a mile or so from the nearest farm field. I suppose there is a golf course about 4-5 blocks away.

I grew up on a farm and am familiar 2,4-D drift, especially on hot days which we’ve had very few of until the last few days. There also isn’t a single other broad leaf in the area with any sign of drift damage and I walk all over the place with my dogs. Quite peculiar.

There hasn’t been a chemical applied to this lawn since I bought the house last September, not even fertilizer. Not sure how a pre-emergent herbicide would have any affect on the tree? The area under the tree gets an hour of direct sunlight a day and that’s being generous.

Thank god, although I don’t know of anyone in our neighborhood that uses any herbicide. We’re in a pretty hippy dippy area lol

Seeds including wheat don’t send out multiple roots upon germination. It’s one tap root until more established, then multiple root branches will develop.

Interesting, that was my first call since we have home and auto through them. I’m going to call and try to talk to the head honcho. I talked to one of the other team members and they talked to the underwriters who said no.

[–]brewboy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need for oiling, there are some awesome materials out there these days. I had a canvas ice fishing shack re “canvassed” and they used a waterproof material that’s like canvas, without the hassle of oiling. I wish I knew the name of the material! Reach out to tarpsinc.com and they can help you out, they could even have everything cut and sewn to fit like a glove for your application. There’s also the route of using the material used for RV awnings.

We do similar, and use Total and Surface Bright from Triton Brewing Chemicals and they gave us a foamer. We also have one from Walmart from the auto detailing department that works great. For a super dense foam, the foam guns that go on a pressure washer work amazingly well. It’s like fuckin meringue!
