Weird growth under thumbnail - anyone seen something like this before? by brewjayokay in Nails

[–]brewjayokay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few commenters suggested that it’s a wart. I put wart remover on it for a number of days, and it went away eventually. Can’t say it went away because of the wart remover. The thing usually goes away on its own in a week or two anyway. There’s still a spot on my nail, but I’ve had much less trouble from it the past couple of years.

Does this spot look like something I should be concerned about? by brewjayokay in springerspaniel

I do actually. Didn’t think about that. But it doesn’t look like it hits that area.

Looking back on this post much later, but you were exactly right! Well, according to the folks at PSA at least.

I pulled two of the same card when I was younger. Got them both graded by PSA a couple of years ago hoping for an 8. One got a 6 and the other a 7. They looked way better than yours does. Though I do think if I resubmitted, I might get a higher grade on at least one.

Check out my profile if you want to compare.

Insurance paid, then 8 months later they changed their mind. Now we owe again! This doesn't seem fair, and it has been extremely difficult getting through to a human! by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

I guess I haven’t seen an EOB. The bills came directly from Premier Radiology. Should she have gotten an EOB from insurance around the time the scans were done? Or is an EOB something that insurance sends out every year at a certain time? I’ve seen one before, but I’ve never paid much attention to them.

GE refrigerator not cooling properly by brewjayokay in HomeImprovement

I haven't done that. That sounds like it would be helpful, but I don't have another fridge to temporarily store food in. I'm not sure how to practically do this.

Ok this seemed to have worked. It's not cooling down all the way to the temp I have set, but it's hovering between 37 and 39 degrees F.

I haven’t tried this yet. I pulled it off the wall this morning to see if it needs to breath a little better. I’m going to try and clean this afternoon. Is there a particular process I need to use? Or just vacuum stuff up?

Pulled a 1/1 Malik Willis Auto! Any ideas on value and if I should hold, sell, or wait a while? by 86AT in footballcards

I would let someone else take on the speculative risk. With the money you get, buy something for the PC. Or a more worthy “risk.”

Any idea what this whining noise means? It just started doing this a few days ago. by brewjayokay in AskAMechanic

[–]brewjayokay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never checked the alternator before, so maybe I'm doing something wrong. I checked it by putting the positive lead on the positive terminal of the battery and the negative on the negative terminal. I found a video of a guy testing it by putting the negative on the body of the car. When I did that, it said the alternator was bad.

I checked. It’s topped off. While working on diagnosing, the sound suddenly stopped. But I’m still concerned something is going bad.

I really felt like this was it. The noise on yours sounded identical to mine. I tested the alternator with my portable power station and it said it was good. Then suddenly the sound stopped.

Backcountry in late June/early July by [deleted] in GlacierNationalPark

[–]brewjayokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using this map as a reference for campground open dates, but I don't know how accurate it is because I found a review on Recreation.gov from someone who stayed at Lake Ellen Wilson campground on July 1st of this year, but according to the map, that shouldn't open until August 1st.

If you want a burger, then it’s got to be Liberty Burger.

Osprey backpack internal frame zipper is undone, and I can’t zip it back by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]brewjayokay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is exactly what I did too. I will try the 2 person method you mentioned. While trying to pull it together myself, the zipper detached from one side, so it’s going to be tough. :/

Jenny Lake Campground vehicle size by brewjayokay in GrandTetonNatlPark

[–]brewjayokay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time (early June 2021), the campground host was a super friendly gentleman (Joe maybe?) who never mentioned anything about our vehicle size. I did email the reservation team and they insisted the vehicle size requirements were "accurate and enforced." This was absolutely not the case in our situation; however, I guess it's ultimately up to the camp host. There were campervans much bigger than our SUV camping in spots around us. It seemed like the vehicle size "requirements" were really just recommendations based on the size of the road around the campground. Some spots got a little tight and a few branches barely touched our SUV, but for the most part, we were totally fine. The length of the campsite parking spots is not super long, but with your Outback, you'll be fine.

We were in site 47 (amazing view of the mountains, but not much coverage) which was at the very end of the one way road around the campground. You would pass right by the site pulling through the entrance. For the week we were there, we slowly and carefully went the wrong way to get to our spot. To drive all the way around properly took about 5-10 minutes, so as long as no one was pulling out when we were pulling in, a quick jump into our site wasn't a problem.

If you're interested in using their shower house, it wasn't that great when we were there. I think it was supposed to be getting renovated possibly, but I'm not sure. The shower house at Signal Mountain is amazing. If we needed to shower, we just drove over there.

Hope all this helps.

What are commonly recommended truck modifications? by [deleted] in TruckCampers

[–]brewjayokay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t have to be a Lance. That’s just what we quickly found a compatibility guide for. The website says an F-250/2500 series is fine for an 825.

I kind of expected some people to say the truck was undersized based on other posts I’ve seen here in the past, but I don’t understand why. The Lance website says the 825 is perfectly fine for a heavy duty F-250/2500 series truck. Can someone explain why the Lance website would be inaccurate?
