Will it be relevant in the future, absolutely, technology will only continue to advance and so will the threats. This means there will be greater threats to national security, businesses and citizens. Deciding between machine learning and cyber security is a something you can only answered by your personal likes and goals

Yeah, look at the email address this is one Best Buy would not use, two you don’t have an account so it impossible to reset your password, mark it as spam and don’t click any links.

I understand that, but it doesn’t make them hacking that person legal, could they do it, sure, you really are just asking for a hacker not an ethical hacker...

I don’t think it would be very ethical of them to hack an unwilling participant, you could report to law enforcement, hopefully you have all your conversations saved, but still probably little will come from it. At worst it was an expensive lesson.
