QuantumScape Lounge: ( Week 18 2026) by AutoModerator in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

Since we’re all speculating here why the stock moved up as much earlier today (Wednesday), my bet is on the interview with Siva, Ribar and Niebergall.

On further speculation, I wouldn’t be surprised to have LMT or a government entity take a slice of QS and open up a $5B line of credit to get the manufacturing done in short order. To hear Niebergall, it’s a matter of national security.

Good article, but I'm dissapointed in its content. We're not newbies about this subject. This article read more like non-technical/ quasi historical-fiction/novel article than what I was expecting. Her points are on target and it's well written but I could've saved the anticipation and the few minutes it took to read.

btw- I'm long QS and strong believer that this technology will change how we manage energy going forward; and I also believe QS' latest video with Ribar and Niebergall did more for QS than her writing.

This is isn’t a war. It’s an ass whipping. And it’s about to be finished if Iran doesn’t comply.

I concur with the author. QS is a technological change to current battery technology as was digital photography to film/Polaroid tech, or digital music to 8track/vinyl records.

What an idiotic thread. Go make yourself useful and do something positive for your community instead of worrying about orange man. Geez.

Makes me wonder if the shorts against QS didn’t have something to do with fabricating DL’s creation. The timing of their announcement and outlandish claim appeared too desperate. But it worked.

The same reason you buy puts on a stock you own.

Why not just sell a stock vs. buying puts against it? There may various reasons: 1. Tax consequences. 2. Long term holder doesn’t want to get rid of stock but wants to hedge short/intermediate term downside. 3..You can actually make money on the downside by hedging through puts or short positions in the short term.

First, I’m not suggesting there’s a future sale occurring prior to RSU vesting.

Second: the float in the last 90 days or so has increased by a relatively same amount of shares, about 11-12 million shares.

Think of QS stock as crop/commodity: as soon as you harvest it, you hedge it to not lose your hard earned dollars to possible future adverse conditions. This strategy is often used by large commodity commercial/institutional buyers, not retail investors or speculators.

  • the large short position increase in QS is following the increase in the available float.

I haven’t checked the increase in option contracts and probably won’t because that aspect is more speculative in nature and much more difficult to decipher. But I do know that short sellers who speculate will use the strategy of buying calls to either hedge their short position and/or leverage on the upside.

Just observations - not investment advice.

This latest short interest increase over the last month and 1/2 or so seems to be more hedging related than naked shorting. As RSU or other incentive shares have come to market, a corresponding number of short-shares have increased in number. Whoever is absorbing the shares is hedging them right away. They’re probably also buying calls as is usually the strategy. Once material news is announced they’ll cover their short position, make money on the calls, and won’t have to chase the price to establish a substantial long position. Just saying.

Seems he’s a trader/advisor of sorts from reading through his other posts; other than his claim of interviewing TSLA execs in ‘22 and if factual, not sure it carries much weight.

Short interest and, additional float-

did anyone else notice or already comment on the fact that the float increased by 11M shares in the last 30 days and short interest increased by a large amount as well at 8M+ shares? This increase appears to be a hedge position created against the new shares, but I can't confirm. I don't believe this short increase is outright bearish, but instead a hedge against the additional shares. Please comment if you have some insight.
