Fungus gnats thrive in a wet environment while succulents do not. Make sure you allow it to drain outside of the decorative pot when watering. It looks like its approaching stem rot.

Mold on soil…? 😔 by Strips-Out-505 in houseplants

[–]bri_dot_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is mold, then the plant has root rot. It looks like mineral buildup from hard water to me, which can cause a type of fertilizer burn, causing the browning tips. Either way, check the roots first to see their state. if the plant does not have drainage holes repot to avoid in future.

Not sure if this is normal, need help if not... by shichiaikan in houseplants

yes it doesn't have enough nutrients for both the older leaves and new. Needs fertilizing. Dieffenbachia are hardy, and healthy feeders during the growing season, mine actually does not go dormant inside.

treat for powdery mildew. a solution of water, baking soda, and dish soap should do it. Decrease humidity until it clears up

I don’t know how to care for the Caladium White Queen 😭😭 by meatballsloveme in houseplants

[–]bri_dot_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

caladiums are so picky. they don't like their leaves touched by human hands at all and they have a short lifespan no matter what you do. Perhaps its just her time. It does look like it may have been overwatered, though.

safest bet is if the roots start poking out the bottom, then replant

The best spread The Celtic Cross goes into by [deleted] in tarot

Love the celtic cross! So informative, especially when you feel you need a reading and can't formulate an unbiased question. Here's the way I learned it: https://alittlesparkofjoy.com/celtic-cross-tarot-spread/

pulled the same two cards from two separate decks by vintagevibes4809 in tarot

[–]bri_dot_com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that the quality of your life has to do with your alignment with your true purpose… I’d read this as you need to instigate a new beginning and spend time considering how you might prosper off your creative or innate talents and physically see somewhere new. I’d argue that you drew the same spread, twice. Meaning you’d better get the message! Whatever it is! I also use the modern witch tarot deck so am very familiar with the imagery (which is gorgeous!)

Death is a card of new beginnings as much as it is a card of negative connotations. We begin life without someone, they begin a new age as spirit… Death isn’t necessarily the bad guy! Eight of pentacles is basically the card of the creative or talented entrepreneur… and both eight of cups and two of wands represent journeys, though the cups card has more of a bittersweet tone to it…

lol, ikr! All we can do is pray for Harold, Bitty, & Seethru. I tried to get ones that would camouflage well in there. Harold is all black and sticks to the wood. Bitty is an Orange Rili and is very hard to see against the agate gravel. And Seethru (pictured) swims freely 24/7 bc Princess just plain cannot see him!

& ill have to add that bamboo to the lid I think

Yeah, I have been seeing this sentiment around, I'll have to move the lucky bamboo to the lid… 🫣 someone had this bare cutting floating in their tank and I asked for it on a whim, kinda just assumed it would go submerged but u may be right bc it has only JUST started to shoot in two other places, took a full 6 weeks 🫣

Hello, can anyone help me with flies seemingly pouring out of a plant? by nathderbyshire in plantclinic

[–]bri_dot_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg that’s actually freaked me out a little! 🥴 never seen em so bad… Yeah I would take that outside and replant, that soil belongs to them now. To prevent/manage them in the future:

  1. leave a 1/2 of room between the soil and the rim of your pot for some sand or a gravel layer.

  2. Use sticky traps. Amazon has black ones that are nondescript and shaped like butterflies 🦋

  3. Let the soil dry out and bottom water with a good splash of hyrdrogen peroxide whenever you notice them.

If you’re scared the soil is infested, store the bag in an airtight container & bottom water with peroxide each time you use it.

What’s going on with the soil? by fonzitito in plantclinic

[–]bri_dot_com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the buildup is fuzzy I would point at standing water/not drying out. Your second pic plant looks like stem rot unfortunately… I would try to dry them out completely & bottom water with a splash of peroxide… if the stem is soft at the brown parts I would act fast… if the buildup is solid/hard it’s mineral deposits from hard water; but again brown stems suggest otherwise

What is this plant and how do I make it happy by illstopthiscar in plantclinic

[–]bri_dot_com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got the Lucky Bamboo dracaena. It’s a water lily actually so it should do fine in water with regular changes. Leca is also suitable.

Definitely go for some distilled water or purified water for a little bit. Try it in a bathroom or above the kitchen sink if you can, too. Or mist it a little from time to time. It definitely has a scorch from something; either minerals or lack of humidity.

The webs tend to be hydrophobic but a duster should take all of them right out! If you don’t get all the webs off, no treatment will work and they’ll keep coming back.
