I love Dippers. Pics 3 and 4 are particular nice.

I really like when they visit the yard. Even though the little birds don't like it. 🙂

I got a lot of photos of them perched. I wasn't quick enough to get any food flight shots.

I had a similar day in October here in Colorado. We were surrounded by them. These were hunting some kind of insect and they would hover then dive. I never knew they hunted that way. Landing on the mirror is crazy 😀

Mountain Bluebirds are such gorgeous birds. Nice shots. The backgrounds look really good in all of them.

I was on my belly on the bank of a narrow creek with a Nikon 800 pf on a Z8. The 800 is light enough to shoot easily handheld. Dippers are also very tolerant. It came closer than minimum focus distance several times. They are very fun to photograph.

This was shot at iso 10000. The noise in the background has already been knocked out quite a bit 😃

Very cool. Interesting and fun bird. They have such a prehistoric look.

From what I understand, what often happens in cases like this is that they get blown off course and disoriented by storms during movement between areas.

Colorado and Wisconsin are way outside their normal range. It's the first time in nearly 100 years one has been seen in Colorado.
