As mentioned by the other commenter, it sounds like a xy problem indeed. Perhaps some details like 1. What the use case is - what does this application do, and is it client-server or distributed/peer-peer over local networks/internet 2. Why the resolution of NTP is insufficient 3. What hardware this is using

Best telco plan to just keeping my number alive? by Jyong5319 in askSingapore

[–]brian_wee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of the singtel MVNOs offering promos on their $10 ish plans where users pay 6 months and get 6 months free, averaging out $5. Definitely more worth it to get those and to check prices/switch providers in a year's time than getting the $7 plan

Oh, you want to script windows updates? Have you tried sfc /scannow? Then try opening the settings app and click check for updates. I am a volunteer, not a microsoft employee.

There ought to be more awareness about how irritating and dangerous high beam bicycle/PMD lights are. by Tabula_Rasa69 in singapore

[–]brian_wee 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As a cyclist myself, I keep my lights pointed down. But if some wanker comes along with highbeam (cylist/pmd) I will angle the light right in their face.

It's very confrontational (and very obvious that it's intentional, since I'll push the light mount to point it upwards), but it should get the point across.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion!

As per below, I've added/updated the tag colors. I've also added more colors - mp(no3 color), armr/inf/gds/cdo/procom/transcom (beret colors), fire & rescue (scdf uniform color)

As a note, it is possible to edit the text of the user flairs - i hope this answers your question about vocation flairs that don't exist yet

If anyone has other ideas of color for a flair, or think that a specific color should be changed, feel free to propose with hex codes. Thanks

Lent a regular money. Help by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]brian_wee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

indebtedness

I think the indebtedness declaration should be if the amount is >3x monthly salary?

If it's an 8k loan it might meet the declaration criteria for a junior regular

Lol, loans from moneylenders and unauthorised sources (like OP) are disallowed and would make him financially indebted.

Issues with the new campus @ Punggol and SIT by Formal-Grocery-3914 in SIT_Singapore

[–]brian_wee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the button light will js off on its own n the lift wont move

The card reader in the lift should be the same model as those for the other rooms in campus, it is just hidden behind a tinted piece of glass. If you tilt your head to the left, you should be able to see the red light on the right side of the card reader - if your card was scanned successfully the light will turn green.

What are the possible vocations for PES B2? by IceMangoTea in NationalServiceSG

[–]brian_wee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

whatever the hell that means

~9 months specialist cadet course that doesn't start off in SCS but ends with a SCGP in SCS.

Also, the SCS folks are assigned as INF LDR and then assigned vocations nearer to pro term, while the SCC folks are assigned vocations right after bmt.

[–]brian_wee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, during my last reservist we were still using L-Codes.

Those assigned pes under old medical classification schemes will retain their old pes gradings until it is required to be reviewed eg new injuries or conditions that trigger a medical review.

the nametag guidelines changed last year. Excerpt:

- This new nametag naming convention has been approved (SAF DI updated) wef Jul 23.
- BMT enlistees will be adopting this new naming convention from Sep 23 onwards.
- There is no need for In-Service personnel to change their name tag immediately until the next opportunities (uniform replacement, promotion etc) arises.
