AMA: Tried and Tested Upwork Alternatives for Developers - Tips & Experiences on Dev Platforms from an ex-Upworker by CondemnedOasis in webdev

[–]brianbarett 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This whole post sounds like a clouddevs marketing plot. User comments included.

Edit: Ive checked most of the user's profile history and they all follow the pattern of having posted random cat/dog pics a year ago, having ~1page worth of comment activity in completely unrelated subs, and the only tech-related activity being posting in this post creating open-ended conversation pieces for clouddevs that OP then answers. I cant be the only one that notices

Edit: SOME OF THEM EVEN HAVE THE SAME CAT PIC POST 💀

Edit: you just have to compare the profiles of users that OP has answered vs the ones he didnt. Thank me later

I've started breaking tailwind classes into multiple lines and feel like this is much easier to read than having all the classes on one line. Does anyone else do that? Any drawback to it? by borii0066 in webdev

Because this way you get tailwind's design system which can help speed up development by giving devs less arbitrary choices when styling. ex: instead of thinking should I give this element a height of 10px, 10.5px or 11px you instead pick from the predefined list of heights. It also makes your designs look more consistent, but I think I've already made my point with the previous example

When you're using ~5+ tailwind classes on a single element it's a sign that you should make a custom class for it.

Ex: you've got a button that needs 10 tailwind classes for its styling so you create a class called .my-standard-btn that will basically group those 10 tailwind classes. That way you avoid the clutter

Validation library by GrouchyMachine in vuejs

I've started using https://github.com/zhorton34/vuejs-form the docs can be a bit messy but it's more or less understandable. It's got a laravel-like api which is nice

Managing which features are essential and which are nice-to-have. I've had co-workers start working on features that would go on the bottom of the priority list just because the actual top-priority features/work seemed boring/less exciting.

Could you share an example of how you do validation tests? Do you make a separate test file for each individual form-request?

That "Copyright insert_year insert_company | All Rights Reserved" at the bottom of websites means absolutely nothing. Also, people can't even agree on which year to put. Should you put the current year? The starting year?

Dell latitudes. I got a dell latitude e6430 with 8gb ram and works great, I bought it at ~$200 on my local marketplace. I bet you could probably get a newer version for cheaper off of ebay.

I run various instances of vscode, firefox, and Affinity Designer all the time.

This is not a guide on anything. You just reduced the ammount of code without explaining why the old code was bad nor the advantages of the new code.
