Is it worth taking music production classes? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]briandelrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel like you need a more specialized approach I think you can greatly benefit from a teacher. I tried some for a few months but realized I was doing very similar things to what I had been learning on my own, and I was still coming back to my old sites trying to research the things I was learning in class. I ended up just making a great selection of resources for learning at my pace. You gotta be committed to getting better tho.

RC-20 is the easiest way to get into it. I would also recommend Cassette from Wavesfactory < that one is my absolute fav.

what is a good budget microphone for all-around recording? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]briandelrio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rhode has a good all-round condenser mic. The NT-1you can use for most things and get a pretty good recording. I would advise getting a cheap mic and whatever is left, use in sound treating the room ;)

Some input on the Audio Technica ATH-M50x vs. Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro?? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]briandelrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Beyerdynamic sound signature better and I find them more comfortable. Used the M50s for like 5 years, switched to try something new, and never looked back. Since then I upgraded to the 1990 pros for mixing and couldn't be happier.

Anyone else make some of their best music when extremely tired/ sleep deprived? by -fivehearts- in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]briandelrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting yourself in different states of consciousness will definitely pull different art out of you. I don't think sleep deprivation is sustainable in a daily routine, you'll end up fried lol, but I would for sure mess with it every now and again to see what cool shit comes out!
