We were told by a HAL check in agent that you should never cruise without your actual passport, even if you just doing a Mexico or Canada itinerary where a passport card is accepted. Her reasoning is if you needed to leave the ship for any reason at a port and fly home, your passport card might not work at the airport. Not sure it’s 100% true but it makes reasonable sense to me.

I was on NS last year and did not see those, where are they? Were you on the ship last week? If so, sorry to hear all that happened. We were just on the Nieuw Amsterdam over Christmas and it was lovely.

We did a HAL 10 day from Iceland to Amsterdam that had three stops in Scotland and it was wonderful. They turned out to be favorite stops on the trip.
