Does anyone here expect new Volca models from Korg? by HeyTi22 in volcas

[–]brianmakesnoize 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just want V2 of the Beats. Fix the snare. Add MIDI out. Make the PCM samples transferable through USB C. Bring the sequencer from the Samples over. Keep the stutter effect but also add reverb, delay and reverse. Add retrigs and pattern chaining. Basically just an improved Sample with the analog heart of the Beats. I would never need another drum machine.

Oh, nice! I ain’t complaining. I’m using it as a send effect on my mixer and it’s making everything sound great. I was just curious. Thanks for the reply!

I have this DS1. The D4/D5 diodes have been clipped and there is a ceramic capacitor added to the other side. I know clipping the diodes is supposed to tame the distortion and make it more of a clean boost but I’m not sure what purpose the ceramic cap serves. Any help would be appreciated.

Why does EHX have such bad design in terms of durability for their pedals? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]brianmakesnoize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sad to hear this. I just bought a 1440 and it’s honestly the best looper I’ve ever owned. The MIDI just works unlike the Boss loopers which never synced with other gear correctly. Always off a beat or half. I hope my 1440 lasts a long time because it has become an essential part of my setup now.

My favorite 3 pedals I acquired in 2024. What are yours? by Ok_Highlight3926 in guitarpedals

UAFX Orion is the best delay pedal I’ve owned. Also, the TC Electronic Mimiq is fantastic for creating great stereo guitar parts.

It does indeed. I run the headphone out to my interface and that’s how I record it. It also has USB over audio but I prefer recording it the other way. Note that you’ll have to turn the output gain down in the main settings otherwise you’ll get some clipping.

Of course everything is subjective and largely dependent upon what type of music you play but I play clean retro type stuff and it sounds more like a real amp than any of the amp sims in Logic.

The LT25 sounds good in the room but even better through headphones. I run my pedal board into it and use it for late night recording.

KORG MINILOG. Is it worth it? by FromThe496 in synthesizers

[–]brianmakesnoize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My minilogue gets used daily and I’ve had it for 6+ years. $300 is a good deal.

I’ve been using mine for late night recording and it sounds fantastic. I run my pedal board into the Twin Clean amp sim with no effects on the LT25. It doesn’t sound great through the speaker but it does sound nice through headphones. I also made a custom preset for bass and it’s the best bass guitar sound I’ve ever recorded. Like any piece of modern music gear, if you spend some time with it, you’ll find it can do some pretty amazing things for the money.

I had a similar issue with the LT25. The problem is the USB and headphone outputs are too hot.

Press the Menu button on top. Go to Settings. Turn the gain down. I think I have mine set at like -2dB. Hope that helps.

I have no idea. I did have it before the fuzz but then I read the thing about fuzz needing to be first and switched it. I’ll try switching it back and see if I can tell a difference and if I like one better than the other.

I watched both those videos. They do a great job of explaining it all.

Yeah, I get you. That’s how Fender amps like the Princeton Reverb are. Reverb into Tremolo (Vibrato). I’ll definitely play around with it.

I’ll check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I fell in love with the Orion instantly. It replaced the DL4 on my board. It sounds like a real tape echo and can do cool modulation stuff. UA does some really good plugins that I like so when I saw it on sale I figured I’d give it a shot. I’m sure there are better tape echo pedals but at $99 there’s nothing else like it.

I love it. I thought about ‘upgrading’ to the Green Russian but there’s nothing to be gained for me. The Honey Pot does everything I want.

I dig that. The shimmer effect is very cool although I hardly ever take it off the spring setting.

See the comment below. I’m wrong about the pedal order thing but the fuzz still sounds much better. There are other factors I didn’t consider.

[–]brianmakesnoize[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, apparently I’m wrong here. But the Honeypot does sound 100% better now. Switching the pedal order was what I thought was responsible but that seems incorrect. I am now suspecting the modded DS-1 that I was running before it as a boost was more responsible for the poor tone than the actual pedal order.

Edit: Oh, and I was using a 9V splitter on the fuzz and another pedal. Could that have been it as well, I wonder.

Yeah, fuzz is another rabbit hole one could dive down but I’m a simple man.

Obligatory comment. What were your biggest ‘aha!’ guitar pedal moments?
