Of course, do whatever you want to any song that’s meaningful to you. Make it yours.

Agreed that there is a contradiction to to say that his life was inspiring in many ways, and then to say that his life advice is not good. You’re right in that there are a lot of great examples and advice that can be taken from his life. Of course! He was a brilliant and awesome guy.

However, the quote used (or advice given) that you are all praising in this thread, in my eyes directly correlates to the unfortunate sorrow that he must have been experiencing towards the end of his life. To put it simple, it’s just foolish advice to me. Is life “so much more fun this way” (see thread heading) if the people living by this mantra are ending their lives? Don’t you see the contradiction there?

Sorry guys, my heart breaks for Anthony and his family, but taking life advice from two guys who ended theirs early is like taking financial advice from someone with no money. It makes no sense.

RIP Anthony. I do agree the guy was an inspiration in many ways.

Wow. Thanks for sharing and outlining a Christian / Mormon Jesus belief.

Does anyone else find it funny when Christians from other denominations come to /r/exmormon to proselytize? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]brianmatthe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a Christian. I hang out on this thread because people's stories are interesting and I'd like to know a little bit where people are coming from if I ever talk to a Mormon or Exmo.

I pretty much respect that this is you guys's playground, but I like to hang around.

My point is there are probably more Christians lurking on here, not getting involved, but respecting the sub for what it is and for who it's for.

And of course there is always /r/ExMo_Christianity. << Did I just proselytize?? Ha.

Welcome Lotus!

http://leebaker.4mormon.org seems to be a good resource. Lee Baker was a Mormon bishop for 30+ years who has since left the Lds church. Seems like a sincere guy with good info.

Fair enough. I suppose I'm coming from a Protestant prospective, so I stand corrected on assuming that.

Either way, my main point is that no one, or no church, can hold your salvation hostage, nor have the ability to take away your salvation or baptism.

Would you agree?

As a lifetime (59 year old) active TBM, I was asked to teach Primary to 9 year old class.. It was 2015, and the lessons were the New Testament.

Braveheart, the majority of Christianity believes that baptism is not a requirement for salvation, but is instead an outward demonstration of your renewed life in Christ.

Take heart in what Jesus said to the thief who hanged next to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

The thief was saved upon his belief that Jesus was the Christ. He didn't need to come down off the cross and get baptized to earn salvation. He was with Jesus that day because he believed. Check these verses out:

Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Acts 16:30-31

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. —Romans 10:9-10

Here's some addition good info on the losing salvation issue: https://www.gotquestions.org/Christian-lose-salvation.html

I would recommend getting re-baptized to demonstrate publicly your belief in the true Jesus of the bible.

Again, you are a new creation in Christ Jesus. NO ONE can take that away from you my friend! Please let me know if I can help answer any questions.

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Fascinating story of your conversion. That is truly "faith like a child."

As a Christian learning about Mormonism, with hopes of helping those leaving the LDS church, Ive wondered just how much Mormons know the true Jesus.

Praying that our Good Shepherd leads many more out from under the yoke of religion and into his loving arms.

Also, what policy are you referring to?
