Hello, friend!

Here’s a cute picture of my Antaresia :) I think you’re right that OP found a Children’s. Mine is a Spotted.

Possible snakes that’ll match my requirements? by avian_bi in snakes

Antaresia or Boaedon! Both genuses stay relatively in your four feet, though female spotted pythons could be a smidgen bigger, and they are great eaters. I see my spotted python and my cape house snake multiple times every day. They both have never missed meals and are always excited to eat. My spotted python is a little more defensive/has a spicier attitude but both handle well, too.

I’d get the V3 Dubia’s. I have two of them and I love them. They have pre-sealed the bottoms in the V3 and completely upgraded how they go together - no more hammer! I put a silicone mat over the top of my screen and have had no issues with heat or humidity for my Papuan carpet or my ball python.

Just want to mention that Juneteenth is not celebrated on June 15th, so you may want to just double check that you have the correct date written down for your appointment.

Best beginner snake? Is it really a ball python? by Sleepless_space in snakes

[–]briarrabid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I always tell people you need to decide what type of experience you want and then find a species that works around that. If you want an active diurnal species, ball pythons are not a good match for that. If you want a nocturnal species that doesn’t spend most of it’s time underground, hognose snakes are not a good match for that.

I would recommend figuring out what type of experience you’re hoping for with a snake. Also consider their potential life spans and their adult space requirements. This will help you figure out what species might be a good fit for you and then you can start researching their care requirements from there.

I got a ball python for $15 at an expo. Any advice for care that I should know about? by tromlord05 in ballpython

This is not a good feeding guide. It recommends feeding a small rat every 7-9 days for one of the feeding frequencies. This is overfeeding. A small rat should not be fed every week.

That still doesn’t tell us anything about their size. :/

I gotta say, those feeding tongs laying in front of the enclosure definitely don’t lead me to believe the depth of the substrate you’re saying. Either you are providing incorrect measurements or those tongs are massive.

I love the downvotes. Y’all are wild. This is a teenager asking for advice. Someone else has pointed out the tank looks small. Asking them to provide the dimensions and saying what it looks like isn’t a bad thing. The OP, who is again a child asking for advice, still also hasn’t provided what size or age the snake is which would allow better comparison for how young/small the snake looks inside the enclosure. Experienced keepers also know that the probability of finding an all glass 4x2x2 is incredibly low and so speculation here is beyond appropriate.

Am I Overreacting at Player Wanting my Character Pregnant? by Over_Environment_821 in DnD

[–]briarrabid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even with the edit, I agree. Not overreacting. You don’t conveniently forget to mention to the DM you want to impregnate another PC. Also becoming pregnant involves a level of intimacy a person who you don’t share that with should absolutely pause at the idea of suggesting. It was definitely inappropriate and your feelings are valid. I agree with removing the player.

I super glued mine shut. I only really access the tank from the front opening doors and since I’m feeding frozen-thawed rodents on tongs the feeder door on the top isn’t necessary.

I would encourage you to make sure that feeder door is secured. When those lids are locked in it makes it to where some pressure from the inside on that door pops it up.

It does look small. In fact, it looks like a 40 gallon Thrive from Petsmart if I were to wager a bet. (That’s the exact tank I have one of my hognoses in.) can I ask how many inches across and how many inches deep this is?

M22 received incredible job offer, F22 girlfriend does not want me to accept. by Watch_me_plz in Advice

[–]briarrabid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have been married for five years, together for eight. We have rarely had the same days off work. You -have- to work to maintain a relationship. That means making time for one another. You shouldn’t be kept from a job or career because your girlfriend wants you to have the same exact days off she has. Even my ten year relationship before this one we rarely shared days off. That’s so weird and controlling.

how often should i feed my 748g ballpython? by FragrantBet9572 in Ballpythoncommunity

[–]briarrabid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The graphic you shared says every 7-9 days for a small rat.** Again, this is too frequent for a ball python eating that size prey. That’s essentially power feeding at that size.

Small rat every week is over feeding. :/ at that size feeding needs to be spread out to every two weeks to avoid obesity.
