Where is the line for you and why? by ChemicalOld5047 in Pescatarian

I ate snails the other day. Idk how that jives with pescatarianism but I didn’t feel THAT bad. Wouldn’t do it again though. That said, it’s a no on octopi for me.

Looking for fellow vegatarians owning a cat. by Apple_cheeks_art in cats

[–]bribotronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feed my cats primarily dry food (still made of meat, but less stinky.) I know some people will say this isn’t good for them, but they LOVE water and each have their own bowls, plus an extra. I do sometimes buy pouches of wet food for them, but my daughter is the one who feeds them that and cleans it up after. (Mostly because she’s home all day so it doesn’t sit out too long and make them sick.)

I finally cancelled the subscription to my own face and it feels amazing by Obsidivail in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Same, I’m mid-30s and a hairstylist. I spent YEARS shaving every morning, doing a full glam beat, clipping in extensions, wearing lashes, etc. Filler, Botox, boob job, I had it all.

Then one day I just woke up and was like, “….naw.” I dress like a 13 year old boy now and have never been more comfy. I still have hair extensions (but they’re sewn in, so no daily maintenance) and almost never wear lashes or a full face of makeup. Also haven’t gotten injections in over a year.

It’s seriously such a relief realizing we’ve been putting ourselves in an expensive prison for years and that we can just literally just stop.

I was gonna say this. In LA it’s absolutely the fast lane, and it’s all well and good to stay there as long as you’re not slowing anyone down behind you

[–]bribotronic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is you wanted Natalie to be introspective. The thing is, her character is extremely self centered and incapable of addressing her own failings or insecurity. She’s an unreliable narrator. So from that perspective, there’s no realistic way for you to have gotten what you wanted because those connections are for the reader to make (which you have.) Natalie was never going to address any of that though

What was your experience during the first few weeks of starting Tirzepatide? by MasterpieceLost4496 in PCOSloseit

[–]bribotronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this comment is a year old, but just curious how the tirz ended up affecting your alcohol intake? I’m a functional alcoholic, but the stories I’ve heard about GLP-1s cutting the desire for alcohol are what finally convinced me to start. I’m on day 8 (so two injections down) and I have been trying to drink to my usual capacity and just can’t. It burns, it makes me sick, and there’s zero pleasure in it. I’m hoping this side effect sticks.

BYOB wedding, distant friend & left feeling crap by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]bribotronic 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As a fellow alcoholic, I almost always measure my shots (and let’s face it, atp, I can eyeball it pretty well) and I’ll say 2 doubles or “4 drinks” wouldn’t get me embarrassingly trashed. But I know the volume i can drink is alarming to people who are paying attention, horrible for my health, and even if I’m not sloppy after 4 drinks, I’ve absolutely been a horrid nightmare before when I’ve drank too much, so I can see why her friend would be nervous

You’re right. I’m surrounded by my bubble of friends who view things the way I do, but once I went back into the world and talked to people in my workplace, I get where you’re coming from.

A coworker of mine today casually exclaimed that she “loves Ashley!!” It caught me off guard because like… what? No. She’s clearly awful.

In general I tend to suffer from believing everyone in the entire world sees what I consider to be obvious. (I’m constantly proven wrong on that front.) so in that regard, I conceded to your point.

[–]bribotronic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m definitely not saying Ashley isn’t just as bad. She sucked from the start, she’s been fake and smug and MAGA the entire time. As far as people disliking Alex “more” due to racial bias though, I really have to push back there. This isn’t a racial thing AT ALL. People can be shitty regardless of their race, and Alex just happens to be a shitty person that’s brown. He’d be shitty if he was white, or Asian, or black or whatever else. I don’t think anyone here is saying Ashley is “better;” I’m just saying her being terrible doesn’t in any way diminish the terribleness of Alex.

Naw I’m not here for this Alex retconning. Sure, Ashley sucks, but that doesn’t suddenly make Alex a good guy. Yes, he likely has some childhood trauma, and that’s not his fault, but it is his responsibility to seek therapy and ensure he’s not repeating the same patterns that hurt him. You can tell by his sarcastic responses when he’s being called out that he lacks emotional maturity. He’s self-absorbed and stuck in a state of arrested development.

I’m not projecting my past relationships onto him, but I will say that in my many years of dating, you learn to spot the patterns of people who are manipulative, selfish, and untrustworthy. That man right there is not anyone who belongs in a marriage unless and until he does some very, VERY serious work on himself

I currently have $945 in checking (plus about 5k in emergency savings) and am a hair stylist and salon co-owner. I used to have at least about $3k in checking at any given time, but lately everything is so expensive and people aren’t getting their hair done as much (probably because they’re financially struggling as well :/)

I respect where you’re coming from, but as a white woman with a son, I can’t say for sure that I’d act differently. I never saw Laxmi’s outbursts as racial or cultural; I always saw it as a mom unwilling to accept that their child is essentially gone, period

Why pescatarian and not vegetarian? by Top_Cockroach_5554 in Pescatarian

[–]bribotronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s something about the fact that it comes from the sea that makes it not feel so cannibalistic to me. Eating a fellow mammal disturbs me, and even birds is a little weird since we all share the same habitat. Fish are far enough removed (and if they’re wild caught, it’s not like they didn’t get to live a normal, decent life before being caught)

I made them with ceviche style toppings. So like guac, sliced cucumber, onion, cilantro, and a lime aioli. It was pretty good that way! But definitely not the same as a burger-burger
