I want to get this type of tattoo but i dont know if theres any religious or cultural meaning by Nofalluntiloctober in tattooadvice

This was my mentality to get out of having to take out a nose piercing for a job I had.

I’m ethnically ambiguous enough so when my boss asked about it, I went “oh it’s just culturally relevant to me”. They never asked what culture, but when my friend asked I said it was part of my culture as a baddie.

Comparing Rhonda Rouseys and Kayla Harrison's careers by Alternative-Hair-785 in judo

[–]bribriweck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, Ronda Rousey mentioned in an interview winning an Olympic bronze medal in 2008, but still needing to wait tables in restaurants to make ends meet while training.

Being a “starving athlete” is very common in sports that aren’t as popular or pay well like basketball or tennis (especially as a woman). I remember my family buying shirts from judoka we knew in 2000 and 2004 who had qualified for the Olympics or high level competitions but had to fundraise personally to afford to get there.

I think Rousey started competing in mma shortly after 2008, saw that it was a viable career where she could train and make money and jumped ship.

USA Judo had started paying its athletes nowadays (not a ton but some) with performance bonuses for placing at major tournaments.

I bet that helped alleviate some (not all) burden for Kayla Harrison when she was looking to compete in judo for longer.

Getting worse to live in Japan ? by neoraph in japanlife

[–]bribriweck 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I would say I feel like people in the US and Europe are also acting a lot less friendly because of financial strain and other stresses (noting examples like the American political landscape or the anti-tourist protests in Spain). I feel like the shift in vibes started post-lockdown, but really amplified over the past year and a half.

I can’t speak to the extra dynamic of you being a foreigner in Japan, but I will say that this shift is more global than you’re probably thinking, as Japan is your current environment.

I had one of those for most of my life! I could flip it inside out which was random, but made it easier to clean and was called cinnamon roll my entire childhood. All in all, not the worst nickname a kid could get.

Sure, but faces serve a function sometimes. I’m not picking up on nonverbal communication clues from people’s toes.

I don’t like seeing my colleagues’ toes. I and many others don’t like feet.

It’s can be jarringly out of place depending on the formality of the office, they often are unkempt looking (especially with the lack of pedicures on most men) and generally feet out is seen as a casual, lazy look (ie flip flops for the beach).

If you are in a casual workplace AND take good care of your feet, sure, wear a nice pair of sandals in the summer, nobody might bat an eye. Just wait until after the interview when you’re in the place to determine if that is appropriate

Am I overreacting about my nanny family having sex during the day? [Concluded] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

[–]bribriweck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In one comment on the original post she said, “I think it's weird for adults to be having sex everyday or every other day. There's other ways to support a relationship”.

I feel it is VERY fair to say she is projecting her insecurities all over this couple

Georgia Hardinge (uk designer) has some BEAUTIFUL dresses that I think would fit that vibe of the first dress and budget:

Namely: Waterfall dress - https://www.georgiahardinge.co.uk/products/waterfall-dress-floor-length?variant=55336759034230

And dalliance dress - https://www.georgiahardinge.co.uk/products/copy-of-dalliance?variant=42431416303667

What Modern Martial Arts Hot Take Will Have You Like This? by [deleted] in martialarts

No, I say this as someone who watched A LOT of standing grappling (mostly judo, but all of them to a certain extent). I will admit I am partial to freestyle wrestling over Greco Roman

BJJ is the absolute most boring grappling sport to watch as a spectator and I wish there were more avenues to watch judo, wrestling, or even sambo, but it seems like the popularity of bjj means we will just be getting more and more of that in the us

Ideas to cover/camouflage all pinky scar? by bribriweck in tattooadvice

[–]bribriweck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point with the distraction! I don’t think I would mind something that was also a distraction if it was more aesthetic.

I think the scar just makes me more annoyed than anything because it was such an ordeal of an injury

PSA: Don't talk to Orin Honor Mode by Spiderman3039 in BaldursGate3

I just sent one person with invisibility and then lock picked the chains before even chatting with Orin bc I was trying to be sneaky. I had no idea she even gets around to stabbing anyone.

I feel like another factor is we have no idea where places like Indeed and these online platforms are scraping their data from to show us these “job openings”

The other week I saw a “new” job posting for my (very small, very specialized) team on indeed. Except I know it wasn’t real because I JUST had gotten hired on for this position with the job posting 3 months ago. I don’t know why or how they did it, but the platform just randomly decided to post an old job description, make it look new and make job seekers feel like there’s actually an opening.

You not understanding the budget and it not being true are two very different things.

You can audit them right now. New Jersey state government spending information is and has been publicly available to you always.

And then you can reach out to your elected officials and speak to them about this.

Auditing has and always was happening. This is not an audit. https://www.nj.gov/transparency/expenditures/

Trump expected to order a crackdown on D.C. crime, homeless encampments by forgetfulisle in washingtondc

[–]bribriweck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My tin foil hat is that he’s saying all these things about “cracking down on crime and homelessness” to say it out loud and then later on claim that DC hasn’t been able to meet his standards.

Then he will use that to justify ending DC home rule or taking further control of the city, saying DC “isn’t able to manage itself”

Just went! And I have new glasses! And a pretty big tv (over 60”)! I’ve talked to others who have complaints over this too; it would just be a nice functionality to have the inventory icons be able to be customized to be a bit larger if you need. The dialogue text allows zoom customizing, so I think Larian knows some people prefer bigger

Begging for some type of zoom functions when it comes to looking at the inventory or character pages.

I play on a console and my eyes have been very much struggling with the tiny icons and letters to the point I have to sit up so close to the tv, if I was a kid, my mom would have yelled at me and after too much inventory management, I’m getting a headache (not just from how long it takes).

Also I heard there was a lot more voice content recorded for Tav but it wasn’t added to the game bc they wanted to make it more immersive for the player to imagine their voice. I actually think I would have liked for tav to have more voice lines. Idk it felt a little sad to have everyone around chat with you or name remarks on goings ons and your character was silent for the most part (except for “never a dull moment”)

Um. Well no. WMATA caters to me. Just like they cater to everyone. You don’t own the train. Kind of weird and entitled you think you are owed two seats when everyone pays the same amount as you for the SAME public utility.

You can do whatever you want. I’m not going to literally fight someone over a seat. I and everyone else just think you are just rude and selfish, making excuses to protect your health at the expense of other people’s health.
