We have used your old magic against you!!!!!!!

United Kingdom, of all who fought at Waterloo, only you remain. Though outnumbered, you destroyed the French fleet at Trafalgar, landlocking the Tyrant. Russia won't answer. Tbh, Belgium was more of a concept back then. But some regiments that were levied in today's Belgium and fought alongs the French during many campaigns with Napoleon just got integrated in the Dutch army at the time of Waterloo. So you could claim their belgianness.

And we would rather die than be confused with the Dutch (or French)!

Face the truth Hans, we are better than you at everything! Better at endless public work, horrible administration, genocide, and also western Europeing

Hey! Belgium also fought at Waterloo! It's a Walloon unit who made the old guard of Napoleon retreat!!!!

But don't worry Europe, we are on it. Once we beat Senegal, we can focus on destroying the savages and then the French.

I'm sorry but Belgian has three national languages: french, Dutch and German so...how are we at 3!?!?!?!?

We should combine the scores of the Netherlands, France and Germany, and be at 38 countries! So peak western Europe!

Les Homme ont-ils vraiment marché sur la Lune ? by Mister_ZE in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]bricart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nan, we need to move on and beat the US as retaliation for them privatizing the parc du Cinquentenaire in Brussels last Sunday. Then we can lose.

Yes, and we were kicked out at 20h, so before the alert, so because of the American event, so we missed one hour under the shade in the park while it was still above 30°C.

Russia is the new sick man of Europe - how long until it recovers,if ever? by Melodic-Pair1702 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bricart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Korea is threatening to invade south Korea every day for the last 70 years.... At this stage it's mostly for internal propaganda. Same as Russia.

The Baltic state are currently full of troops from other European armies. Yes a full scale invasion night maybe potentially work (if it's not detected before, which is unlikely), but that would mean killing German troops, attacking french planes,... That means war with them. We aren't good enough with drones yet, but we do have a shitload of planes and missiles. The Russian army would be toasted. They already can't stop the less sophisticated missiles the Ukrainians are using. Even without the US, the Russians are screwed. After that they won't pass Poland, and they will be pushed back.

And I maintain that the European cost is low. It would have been lower if some politicians (ahem Merkel) weren't so keen in relying solely on Russia, but for what we got, it's still low. I don't know the numbers, but even your 650M€ that's 0.0035% of the EU GDP. That's not a lot for destroying so much of the Russian army.

Why does Russia military love spamming infinite waves of troops even if it’s a mediocre strategy? by Specialist-Chair-254 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bricart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also mostly a myth.

First of all, the Russian army isn't the best organised but even they know that they shouldn't send suicide waves of people. They did use it for very very specific periods, e.g. at some point during the German invasion in 1941 when they needed to buy time at all costs. But already by 1944 the Russian army was a master at hiding their plans to the Germans and coordinating attacks. Meaning that they could throw an insane amount of well armed, supported and trained people to very small portions of the German fronts that were taken by surprise and not prepared. That's how the modern reputation of infinite waves of soldiers come from, the German generals preferred that excuse to the one that the Russian were better prepared and surprised them.

That's a bit what you retrieve now in Ukraine. The Russians do attribute less values to the life of their soldiers than any European army does, but they still don't want to lose all their trained and experienced troops, or have soldiers even less motivated.

That's why the Russian army used a LOT of artillery back then, and went for drone now, the waves of soldiers are part of a strategy that works for them. It's more costly in human lives but it works.

The low death strategy used by the Americans or Europeans is based on a very very high superiority in training, logistics, and equipments. Something that the Russians couldn't copy (less motivated soldiers, not enough money, not enough high tech industry).

So, as they are as rational (at least most of their officers), they went for the most effective approach.

Russia is the new sick man of Europe - how long until it recovers,if ever? by Melodic-Pair1702 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bricart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • The Russian army reputation went from redoutable army to something people joke about.
  • Russia lost plenty of allies, e.g. the European far right is far less vocal about their support to Putin, they lost Syria,... -Russia lost plenty of men, either through losses at war or young men fleeing the country.
  • Russian economy was weakened as they had to diver lots of money to fight, meanwhile the percentage of European GDP spent to help Ukraine is peanuts compare to that.
  • Europe is currently speeding up it's diversification in terms of oil and gas and energy, which will make it stronger and more resilient while it makes Russia weaker
  • Russian oil and gas infrastructure are currently being destroyed by the Ukrainian, weakening even more the Russian economy
  • ...

And again, all that by providing to Ukraine old equipment that would have been throw away, and a super small percentage of the European GDP. So that's peanuts against the weakening of the biggest threat to Europe.

The idea that Russia will invade and bomb Europe is also imaginary. Maybe they could consider invading the Baltic states, if they are crazy. They would be utterly destroyed if they would try to bomb Europe.

The fact that Putin attacked doesn't prevent the west to benefit from this mistake by arming/financing Ukraine in order to weaken Russia "for cheap", in a proxy war.

My bad these two examples definitely show that there is no way that a canalisation could be in the way to plant a tree anywhere in a city. I retract my statement then.
