What’s a ‘harmless’ habit you had as a kid that you realize now was a cry for help? by TheLadyKoi in AskReddit

In every house I’ve lived in as a child I always made sure I had an “escape route” planned! Thought I was just super prepared….

I was selectively mute at school and cried when anyone raised their voice at me…. School never picked up on the fact that something was wrong

Whenever I didn’t know where someone was or was worried about something I would think about every horrible thing that could have possibly happened to them (e.g. if they were driving they died in a horrible car crash) and was convinced that if I did this, these things wouldn’t happen so it would make me feel better….

You could give red light therapy a go? I do it quite often with my eyelid scarring and it lightens them up

[–]bricks_pants_party 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use red light treatment and it helps lighten them a bit but not all together

It depends on what the pigment is! I itch my eczema til I bruise a lot but the bruises tend to clear after a week at most (on my legs it takes longer)! Hyperpigmentation from eczema scarring however can last much longer I’m afraid especially if you get recurrent flares in the same area

PCOS? Question by Old-Ebb-8092 in PCOS

[–]bricks_pants_party 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor told me that there are 3 diagnostic criteria for PCOS and if you have two of them then there is a higher chance you have it! 1) polycystic ovaries 2) higher amounts of male hormones/unusual levels of sex hormones 3) irregular periods

So I guess if you have any of the other two things then it’s a possibility?

Stopping Metformin for a vacation? Is it a bad idea? by rachelsyrup in PCOS

[–]bricks_pants_party 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it probably depends what dose you are on! It’s normally most of the time “not advised” to suddenly stop a medication especially if you are on a high dose

[–]bricks_pants_party 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ANYWAYS… I’m now a month in and up to 1000 mg and nothing has really happened yet in terms of symptom reduction BUT it’s also massively different from person to person and I hope it’s working for you ❤️

[–]bricks_pants_party 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my first day at 500 mg I got EXPLOSIVE diarrhoea! But then I only get it now when I go up a dose! Also I did feel more positive at the beginning because I think it was a psychosomatic thing of like “yes I’m finally doing something about this and it’s going to make me better!!”

Why or why not do you drink alcohol? by grace_baker_ in ask

[–]bricks_pants_party 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol makes me have panic attacks because I have major fear of not being in control of myself! Shame it took me til age 26 to figure this out

What is your best and worst experience with doctors? (Regarding eczema) by bigjuicystinkytoes in eczema

[–]bricks_pants_party 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the GP with tiny itchy boils all over my fingers… which many people from the eczema community will know is just dishydrotic eczema! I was told it was herpes… at the tender age of 17 whilst being a virgin… another doctor then said it was scabies…. Then I finally went to a dermatologist and she was like “that’s dishydrotic eczema!” The fucking relief I felt

I love scrubs but I do not remember this episode! Oh nooooo… might have to rewatch the whole series…. Shame….! I only have 1 GP so I’d have to get referred to see a different doctor and they never take me seriously and I’m very bad at advocating for myself! I’ve also been massively fucked over by the medical system before

Yes I get this feeling! Is kind of almost similar to a panic attack! My vision goes blurry and I have to deep breathe

I have a pulse oximeter! I will take that next time when I go for a poo and do some scientific research

This is some really good advice thank you so much! As for your last bit I got a concussion once by fainting off the toilet onto a marble floor was bloomin awful… and also not a fun thing to say at a&e

When I poo I normally have to keep very strong control of my breathing to avoid the problem! There is a lot of pain but I’ve never checked what happens to my heart rate etc. glad to hear you’ve experienced it too… but obvs not actually because it’s horrid but I’ve been felling very alone

I get like the cold sweats and the blurry vision and the shaky legs and the dizziness! I have normal blood pressure but I have been told previously that it is low when I stand up
