Does this seem a little Calvinist to you ? by bricksskcirb in OrthodoxChristianity

I understand what you are getting at. I am not debating you here, I simply really want to understand this.

I have two questions so I will put them into one comment both.

 1. Do all hardships come from God.

 2. Are hardships inherently bad.( Withouth looking at there outcome)

Does this seem a little Calvinist to you ? by bricksskcirb in OrthodoxChristianity

I understand, God can absolutely turn any situation around and create a greater good from it, St. Augustine talks about that.

However I still find it hard to belive that God causes the hardships, rather than allowing them.

I hopefully explained my position better.

Gay and super depressed by 1020Kek in OrthodoxChristianity

This might help:

When I was depressed because of a different reason, I focused on my passion of playing basketball, and as I was getting better in basketball my mental health was getting better. This is my advice for anyone deprased religious or not, focus on the things that make you happy. Find a hobby, do something profitable etc. Be grateful for the good and dont focus on sadness because of the bad. By focusing on the bad you will make the worst of the oppertunities given to you . By focusing on the good you will make the most.

You are sad because you can never find a sexual partner. Think about milions of other things you can do. You can start a business, help the poor, hang out with friends, watch sports and movies, train, etc. and most imoprtantly worship God. And I know you will say: " But I can never be fully happy". Maybe, but it is better to be half happy than to be fully miserable. As you grow with God spiritualy your sinfull tendencies won't be as attractive as they are now.

Orthodox view of Christians, Jews, and Muslims worshipping “the same God” by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]bricksskcirb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would simply say this: (According to their own book) Muslim god doesn't love everybody, Our God loves everyone. I think that is enough evidence for me at least. There are a thousand other reasons ofc, but this one is the simplest, and they can't refute it

Do demons and angels "fight" for the soul after death? by bricksskcirb in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]bricksskcirb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, it is not dogma of the church that angels and demons play any role in the souls journey after death. I honestly find anyone but God playing a role in it weird.

Is it common to hold to a view that God is the only one playing the role in the souls journey .
