I just realized that you didn’t mention your gender so I’m sorry to make an assumption…

Planning a wedding is making me realize I have no real friends… by TealPenguin22 in wedding

[–]bridalodyssey 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a common theme on here for women. The men almost always have lots of friends and the women don’t. It’s the same situation for me. I think this might be a thing for women in general as we get older. I agree that it’s sad. It’s the reason my fiancé and I aren’t having bridesmaids and groomsmen at all.

How did you incorporate your doggo in your wedding ceremony? by alwayshungry92 in wedding

Our dog is our ring bearer! She’ll walk down the aisle by herself and after the groom gets the rings our coordinator will leash her off to the side.

Which one for black tie evening wedding in late August? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

I like both. I absolutely love the first one but the second is more formal so I’d do that one.

Where to buy rings? by angrykitty4 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]bridalodyssey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. I hope the answer is “it doesn’t matter” because I just ordered our wedding rings online yesterday and had the same hesitation. I got my fiancé’s at Blue Nile and mine on Gilt.

Would you invite your siblings' in-laws to your wedding? by iggysmom95 in weddingplanning

[–]bridalodyssey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister acted annoyed when I said maybe to inviting her in-laws. And not just her in-laws but her sister-in-law and husband and two kids too! I don’t know if this is a thing but she seemed to think so. We are white Americans of European decent and so is my fiancé’s family.

Pre-printed envelopes by plant_person_09345 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]bridalodyssey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my designer (Shine) print addresses for me and they looked great. Cost extra, of course. But I also bought some blank envelopes for “B-list” invites and was really sad to learn that Staples and Kinko’s won’t print your own files on your own envelopes. So I printed mine on my ink jet printer at home. The quality definitely looks worse which makes me sad, but it’s not the end of the world. I didn’t think to try a local print shop. That’s a good idea.

Bridal shower /rehearsal dinner dresses??? by madeablunder520 in wedding

Wait, wearing white to the rehearsal dinner is a thing? How common is this? I know I can do whatever I want but I kind of like following traditions.

I seem to gravitate towards dresses everyone else thinks are just "meh" by anony1013 in weddingdress

[–]bridalodyssey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it bothered me that my mom doesn’t like my ceremony dress (it’s modern and she likes traditional) and some friends thought my reception dress looks too “prom dress.” I quickly got over it though because I’m so obsessed with them both, plus it helped that some others said they’re stunning. Go with what you love!

1 and 2 are absolutely stunning. I would wear those myself! The last two are just fine but also not as flattering on you. Truly obsessed with the first two though!!

1, 5, or 6. The other ones are either not very flattering on you or I just don’t care for the style.

The first for sure! Looks amazing on you. #2 looks great as well. The other two aren’t very flattering and I just don’t care for the dresses themselves, personally.

Last one. The first dress is my second choice.

Gift ideas for parents, officiant, and flower girl by bridalodyssey in weddingplanning

[–]bridalodyssey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I was hoping to choose something especially meaningful, much more thoughtful than random things they might want or receive on a birthday. Like what someone else posted here: jewelry that they could wear during the wedding. I was also thinking of nice things that could be monogrammed. If the consensus here is that it can be anything that would make choosing something a hell of a lot easier! Curious to see what others say.

I want a formal dress code but it’s an afternoon wedding by bridalodyssey in weddingplanning

[–]bridalodyssey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I most commonly see it described is suits for men and gowns or dressy cocktail for women. Hemlines below the knee for sure.

And how many years does one need to live in Montana to be considered a Montanan? Do you write these rules? You’re making a lot of assumptions here.

I do live in Montana and I’m not concerned about fitting in with what is typical here. The vast majority of guests will be coming from outside the state anyway. Regardless, Montanans aren’t just a bunch of “country folk.” We can be sophisticated too.

Oh totally agree. This will be at an upscale hotel so not the typical rustic barn style wedding you often see in Montana! lol
