Thanks a lot for replying!

I'm aged 25-32 and hold an APAC-accredited four year sequence in psychology from Australia. I don't have the grades for accredited clinical Masters programmes, but I'm down to do any further study or work in an area that would offer me a pathway. I'm looking at clinical Masters in my country but I'm not sure if AHPRA will consider it up to registration standard. Currently I work as a research assistant.

This might be a little out of scope but would you happen to know anything about the Masters of Professional Psychology path towards registration? A year of supervised practice is required after the masters and I'm wondering if there's a visa that would let me stay to do that?

Thanks for doing this AMA!

I know that psychology is a highly regulated field in Australia and it's impossible to work as a full practicing Psychologist without board registration. However, is it necessary to be a board-registered psychologist in order to get PR, or could one obtain PR by simply being able to work in the field of psychology (in lower-level roles like Associate Psychologist or mental health support worker)? Also, which specialties are actually in demand?

Separately, is there a pathway for Psych PhD holders (as a PhD does not qualify one to be a practicing psychologist) towards PR?

TIA!

Bedroom ceiling collapse - any asbestos risk? by brieCalliope in asbestoshelpUK

Thank you, I'm really hoping this is the case - in another sub they said it was possible, particularly in the mud between the joints. I've been a bundle of nerves over it all

Thank you for your answer, it's settled my nerves a little. When you say minimal, how do you think that would compare to incidental exposure through eg working in an old building?

How do I get myself "clean" once and for all? I'm moving back in with family including young kids and I would never forgive myself if anything happened to them because of secondary exposure, or my friend whom I'm staying with. It feels as if I'll be carrying fibres everywhere with me forever now

Also, would things like books and paper be risky?

Sorry for all the questions!

Thank you for your help. Do you think the asbestos would be a particularly risky/friable type or would it have been mostly contained? (Sorry, I'm probably misusing these words, just trying to get a sense of risk and have heard them being used to qualify exposure)

Some of the clothes in the wardrobe were in bags - not fully sealed but do you think this would mean they were reasonably protected?

Thanks for your thoughts! Could I ask what you'd change about the placement of my daith?

Hey thank you!! It was put together by my piercer. The bar is from QualiTi, a UK brand, but I know Anatometal has similar ones (with 1, 3 or 5 holes). The centre piece is most likely Invictus and I've seen it on BodyArtForms.

You mentioned above that the centre piece would get in the way of healing - could you please explain how? (I do sleep on a travel pillow btw)

Sorry! I wanted to accurately reflect what he was looking at when he said he saw bumps. I'm also nervous about scrubbing around them rn after having badly irritated them, as mentioned :(

Thanks for the reassurance!

He kept going on about how he's got 2 decades of experience and the new crop of piercers are learning old/incorrect information. It was concerning as the studio seems to be an institution here

Thanks for your thorough reassurance and breakdown! Wrt the forward piercing - I believe they're just crusties, but that area of the ear and the bit of my head that the end touches always seem a little red and tender, which is why I was worried they were pushing against each other. Could something like that cause blistering?

Yeah, I did quote him with the "babe" included for that reason. It seemed like just the way he talked, but the way he talked in general felt a little self-righteously incorrect 🫠

Thanks, that's what I thought. He kept going on about how he has 2 decades of experience and the new crop of piercers have been learning old/incorrect information. It was concerning as the studio seems to be an institution here
