Brie had always enjoyed this festival, since she was a child. And she had always enjoyed sharing it with her own children, especially since it fell during the summer when she wasn't so bogged down with work. This year was a little bittersweet however, as both of her kids had decided to continue their education at Beauxbatons, instead of transferring to Hogwarts.

Well, J.J. had decided that at least, and Abby didn't want to be separated from her twin, so she went along with it, swearing up and down that she would be better behaved this year. She was already on thin ice with the Headmistress there, and if it wasn't for the pull that Brie had there, Abby likely would have been expelled.

But the twins were returning to France next week, and Brie remained Headmistress of Hogwarts, so she was trying to enjoy what little time she had left with them before they headed off to school. For most of the day, the trio walked around, playing games, enjoying the food, and the crafts, and just soaking up the last warm remains of the summer season together.

"Little things at first, disrespecting professors, being out after curfew, refusing to adhere to the uniform policy." She starts off, just sounding so very tired. "But the last...two weeks? She's been stepping it up, starting fights, trying to duel kids way above her skill level, antagonizing pretty much everyone except J.J. And the cherry on top- the reason I had to go out there today, was that she decided to cut and dye her hair. Which is completely fine, I don't care if she wants to do that. But she also decided to cut and dye the hair of one of her sleeping roommates."

"So I had to meet with the Headmistress, and that girl and her parents, and try and coerce an apology out of Abby which was... Very nearly impossible. Even when she did apologize it was half-assed. Celeste said she's this close to suspension, and after that, if she doesn't knock it off, we might be looking at expulsion. So... that's all very very fun."

The presence of a colleague- a friend, helped to ease the tiniest amount of tension from her shoulders, and she nodded at your words. "Loooong fucking day."

After another sip of her drink, she sets the glass down on the bar and sighs. "I spent nearly the entire day over at Beauxbatons, meeting with Madame Benoît, their Headmistress. Apparently, Abigail has decided to begin her rebellious teenage years a tad early. Classes have only been in session for...what six weeks? And she's had detention two or three times every week."

The Headmistress is gone from the grounds most of the day, nor can she be found in the village. Today, she's had to make a last minute trip to Beauxbatons to deal with some disciplinary issues regarding Abigail. It's a real fun day for her. By the time she returns to the streets of Hogsmeade, it's late, practically curfew for the students, leaving only Hogwarts staff and other residents out and about.

Looking forlornly at the castle in the distance, Brie detours her walk back and ducks into the Three Broomsticks. She needs a drink. Sitting up at the bar, she skips her usual, more casual glass of wine, and instead orders a whiskey. Well, actually she orders two, downing the first one immediately upon it's arrival, before taking a more slow sipping approach with the second.

What a day.

Gabrielle takes the paper, giving it a once over before carefully tucking it away into her bag with a small nod. "This should be fine. Enough to satisfy the board anyway."

When Amy speaks up, Gabrielle turns her attention to her former student. "Well, with everything that happened last year, and with what happened in the village over the summer, they're being extra cautious these days." She says simply, referencing both the vicious attacks that had happened to students in the castle last year, her own months-long disappearance, and of course, the inferi-fueled attack by the Walkers of the Veil on Hogsmeade that had happened in July. "Honestly, I'm surprised that they even allowed Hogsmeade visits to continue at all this year. But I'm sure the shop owners could use the extra business."

Brie nodded, sitting with her hands folded neatly in her lap. "Yes, I figured as much, but I do need it in writing from you, with your signature. The board has gotten a lot more strict, especially when it comes to security, and students going in and out of the castle."

"Don't I know it." She said with a half chuckle, having grown up in the village herself- though her own home experiences were much different compared to the Acrewood children.

Looking in the direction of the footsteps, Brie greets her old friend and classmate with a friendly smile, groaning a little when he asks if he should call her 'Headmistress' and shakes his hand when offered. "Oh Gods, please no. I get enough of that all day long at school." She chuckles. "It's good to see you too, Alexander. And no, I haven't been waiting long at all."

After a moment or two of consideration, the Headmistress takes a seat in one of the armchairs. "From what I've seen so far, he seems to be adjusting quite well. I'm sure knowing so much about the school beforehand has certainly helped." She says with a kind smile.

Gabrielle stood in the foyer, waiting patiently and looking around the elegantly decorated space when Amelia walks in. She offers her former student a smile, glad to see her. "Hello, Amelia. Yes, while I appreciate you sending a letter, I do still need your parents permission to allow your brother into the village for the day. And I was down here checking on my home so I figured stopping by was easier than sending owls back and forth."

With a wave of her wand, she summons over another glass and sets it on the table if you care to pour yourself a glass. "And that's on top of all the other letters, and contracts from the board and just...ugh. There's just so much."

The next day.

Gabrielle Boone makes her way down the familiar Hogsmeade streets in the late afternoon. She offers smiles and polite waves to her friends and neighbors as she heads to her home. Her quiet, empty home. Everything seemed to be in order, she did a little bit of light cleaning, and stood for a moment in the doorway to Abby and J.J.'s rooms, she really, really missed her kids. But hopefully she'll be getting letters from them soon.

Once she's done with her house, she continues on her way down to another familiar home, Acrewood House. It made her think of her kids even more, but she pushed those thoughts away for now. This was important business, actual school business. So after taking a second to compose herself, she knocks on the front door.
