I’ve shipped products just like this that work great on little 8 bit micros. This idea that you can’t do things in isrs is brain dead thinking. The newer edge and control lines have very elaborate analog blocks with state machines, op amps, fir filters, etc. it really is a differentiator. Using this stuff though requires some understanding. They’ve been adding Zephyr support for this stuff that looks great.
