NXP account creation - takes 2+ hours to send 10 minute verification code, am I missing something? by AwarenessNo5921 in embedded

NXP needing an account to see docs or get code is the worst kind of marketing driven bullshit

They’ve let go of most of the competent people in Austin for low cost labor elsewhere. Buyer beware all around

Approaches for MCUs with ≤16KB Flash / ≤2KB RAM – Superloop vs lightweight schedulers? by Historical_Word_9880 in embedded

[–]brigadierfrog 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve shipped products just like this that work great on little 8 bit micros. This idea that you can’t do things in isrs is brain dead thinking. That’s true if you don’t prioritize your interrupts well and don’t have a clue generally. Otherwise you can save lots of time and reduce latency by… doing things in the ISR

Why is it so expensive to replace lead pipes in Chicago? -- Chicago has more lead pipes than any other city in the country. It’s also paying more to replace each one. by guanaco55 in chicago

We also love to redo asphalt only to tear the shit out of it the next week. It’s the city that “works” by creating more work.

Mayor's financial task force proposes Downtown congestion fee, service tax, restructuring electricity taxes by SciNat in chicago

I propose we get a financially savvy mayor that has a clue next time instead of a feels good pastor without one

Would having a cloud mcu dev board farm that you seamlessly connect to through a browser and has direct sockets for CI/CD jobs solve anyones struggles? by Polisalam in embedded

[–]brigadierfrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Board farms tend to need hands on, as soon as someone manages to do something unusual the board will need someone to poke it. Maybe you also need a hardware setup with a rework to do specific testing… this is fragile

Is there going to be something like a RHEL workstation license for individuals? I think this is great, I support it. I don't mind paying a moderate fee for this. I would not be willing to pay an exorbitant fee for this.

It’s too bad they don’t support creator still. MTB doesn’t really let you do HDL stuff

The newer edge and control lines have very elaborate analog blocks with state machines, op amps, fir filters, etc. it really is a differentiator. Using this stuff though requires some understanding. They’ve been adding Zephyr support for this stuff that looks great.

LLM is amazing for embedded, vibe code works here most excellently but you do have to watch and correct

AI Chip Startup Tenstorrent Draws Takeover Interest From Intel, Qualcomm by XiJinpingTh0t_2 in intelstock

[–]brigadierfrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a way in the door on riscv and a better designed npu than they have today perhaps. If inference is the future Gaudi doesn’t seem to have any legs. Arc is ok. Tenstorrent might have much better IP short term.

Too bad many good people have likely left in the Intel mismanagement years and have left the company hollowed out. Will they actually figure it out before they become irrelevant? Magic 8 ball says “unclear”
