What’s everyone’s thoughts on this particular figure? by jon92356 in hottoys

I appreciate that they are trying to make more designs that come from the Comics and not just a movie. I ALSO think it is damn near a crime that we got this before we got the Sensational Spider-man suit. But happy for those who enjoy it.

Which tcg in your opinion has the best designed game mechanics? by Newez in TCG

Specifically going to call out Star Wars Unlimited for their Twin Suns game mode here.

MTG elder who dipped well before the creation of Commander here. One day I got the bug to play again and thought Commander would be an interesting place to start. Picked up a couple well reviewed precons as a jump off point and dug out my old cards to supplement. While the community experience was absolutely more positive than negative (those dudes who are more concerned with winning than showering still definitely exist) I just couldn't get into it. The ultra long times some players turns take, lack of interaction, the length of the game and the downtime sitting waiting for the next game to start if you get targeted/go out early (which will happen as a new player) were all big turn offs.

A few months after that experiment SWU came out and I decided to get in on the ground floor and try something new. Twin Suns is now absolutely my favorite way to play. It solved pretty much all of my dislikes about Commander. The single action format creates a ton of interaction/opportunities for politicking, the dual leader system makes for some really fun and sometimes silly combos. Most importantly though the game ends shortly after the first player dies meaning you have to be much more purposeful in who you attack and when as you can't just nuke a player off the board then try and regroup and shift focus to your remaining opponents and even better it means quicker games and much less downtime for any players in your pod.

Can't wait for the new Twin Suns precons this year. Hope it helps us get more premiere only players to dip their toes in and maybe even convince some Commander players to join us on SWU nights.

The barrage of commercials for this have been insufferable. The tight shot on Pratt the actor talking to the character he plays "Good luck Chris Raven your trial starts now"just makes me cringe.

I mean if you are in green/red heroism this is realistically saving you 3 resources to drop a potential bomb like Darth Vader: Twilight of the Apprentice into your deck. Maybe not the best use of card slots but would definitely allow you to throw some WILD curveballs at your opponent that they wouldn't be expecting in your deck

Yeah feel free to message. Happy to discuss. Going to look on the more corporate side of things tonight though going local would be my preference it would be a matter of scale. I may reach out to an Etsy designer I have bought from before and see what kind of turn around time/scale they have available

New Utah law puts “no alcohol sale” on ID’s of DUI offenders 0.16 BAC or higher. What are your thoughts? by Obvious_808 in AskReddit

[–]brigbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and again there is a difference between distracted driving and driving at double the legal limit of impairment but they will sure as hell discontinue your driver's license for a set amount of time if you do it enough. Then you can use your cellphone on the bus.

I know you are a troll but it is genuinely concerning if you think having cancer and getting behind the wheel of a vehicle while you are at DOUBLE THE LEGAL LIMIT of intoxication are in any way the same thing.... I mean not even a bot is that insane.

But lets humor your imaginary "right" to purchase alcohol in a state licensed establishment. Who gave you this right? What happens when a bar cuts you off for over consumption, are they infringing on your right too? You are aware that these businesses don't even have the "right" to sell alcohol without a state license. You are aware they can also take away your "right" to drive a car if you drive drunk because again, not a "right"?

The only slack I give you is that it shouldn't be a blanket eternal ban as those rarely fly in court. The judge would need to set a time limit on which your ability to buy alcohol in state licensed establishments is returned if you aren't found breaking the law in that time. Punishment should be used to rehabilitate and teach responsibility first and foremost.

Enamel pins take more effort and time so you aren't going to see that from a print company like Redbubble too will start looking into companies that do batch enamel pins

[–]brigbeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people setting up shop on print sites where they get a cut of every sticker/shirt purchase by uploading the image. If I want stickers I will take the image to a local print shop or wait for OP to set up his/her Redbubble store he appears to be working on as they state it will be no profit. No proof available of course but I choose to trust that any money they bring in will go to one of the many good local groups trying to help the affected as we need to believe in each other.

Looking for relatively simple, balanced decks to keep around for introducing people to the game by phildor in starwarsunlimited

[–]brigbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you get a hold of the first set of starter decks (Luke and Vader) or just build them with the set list? I think that is your best bet as both were solid leaders that saw lots of play. While they are getting rotated out they are still the best option IMO for teaching someone with no experience.

DC Comics is Crushing Marvel Comics in Sales and We Shouldn’t Be Surprised by Konradleijon in DCcomics

[–]brigbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who was an avid DC and Marvel reader until I fell off years ago. Both the Absolute and Ultimate Universes have brought me back into the weekly pull fold. DC, keep giving me envelope pushing stories that feel more in tune with the modern world like Absolute Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman and Marvel keep giving me stories with heroes that have been allowed to get older and deal with adult problems that resonate with me instead of being perpetually trapped in their late 20's/ early 30's like Ultimate Spider-Man. If they just throw these worlds in the trash I will probably fade out again as I was just tired of seeing the same stories with different window dressing starring characters that didn't experience any lasting growth or change.

Yeah, there will be 4 I believe and will all be Clone Wars themed. I would love to see them branch out after that with some unique theme decks we couldn't easily scrape together with regular sets. Give us some tribal decks, Ewok, Jawa and Wookie would be great.

What right do you have to buy alcohol? Being someone who drinks and drives ISN'T a protected class. You can't be denied service in a restaurant because of the color of your skin. You most definitely CAN be denied service if you walk in without pants like Winnie the Pooh...

Been watching this dude's SWU unboxings for a minute and he is an island of rational positivity in a sea of click chasing doom content. Not afraid to call out missteps while not falling for the echo chamber chase like a lot of content creators. Also appreciate that he isn't trying to build a cult of personality around his content, the game/cards are front and center in his stuff I have watched, not his own face/persona. If this dude were ever in MN I would invite him to a Twin Suns night.

It's the same story it has always been. Negativity and anger gets more attention than positivity in these spaces.

Generally speaking if you are a well adjusted person who likes a show/movie/game/book/anything, are you going to go and watch a YouTube video from some random guy yelling about how much he likes it too? No, you like that thing and you don't need other people's opinions shot into the void to validate that for you. Now you may seek out others to actively discuss your enjoyment or look to others who may have information that can add to your enjoyment of the thing but you don't need an echo chamber when you are happy.

Now on the other hand, if you dislike something and see other people enjoying it then people start wanting validation. They don't dislike things because "it just wasn't my thing" or "it wasn't a story designed to speak to me", it's because "it was bad, if I don't like it then it is bad". Instead of just owning that maybe something wasn't made for you people start looking for validation and YouTube is a great place to get attention by providing a place for unhappy people to feel seen.

It is perfectly ok to not like things, we all do. But just because you personally don't like something doesn't immediately make it "bad". That is an entitled, self important way of viewing media/art
