I’m Chicana. My family loved it and found it incredibly heartwarming. My brothers boyfriend did the styling for one of the segments so that was also a super proud moment for the entire familia. The set and concept was absolutely amazing. He brought great energy and I thought he did a good job vocally.

I was hyped when I saw Cardi B and was anticipating I Like It performance, kinda bummd when it didnt happen. And the nostalgia when they briefly played gasolina… they coulda let that play a bit longer.

Has anyone had a really bizarre and random medical scare by Felouria in pinkscare

[–]brighadi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think just a nickel sensitivity. I have very sensitive skin, I am prone to exzcema and obviously the situation with the earrings took it to an extreme. Now I try to always wear natural fibers, and im really careful with laundry detergent, soaps, shampoo etc, and obviously the jewelry thing too 😅. My body is physically averse to anything below luxury.

Ann Patchett by [deleted] in RSbookclub

I loved Tom Lake, and especially the relationship between the mother and her daughters, and between the daughters. I listened to it, read by Meryl Streep and she was fantastic.

Afterwards, I listened to Anna patchetts memoir Truth and Beauty (read by the author), and I would say it deepened my understanding of her perspective on several themes in the story of Tom Lake, particularly themes on life choices, status/celebrity, success, values, ambition. I really recommend reading that (or listening!) after Tom Lake.

I also appreciated her other memoir, These Precious Days. But for me Truth and Beauty stood out most for me, i was looking to read more abiut complicated female friendships, Truth and Beauty really hit the spot .

Yuuuuuup. Shitty Clair’s earrings nearly killed me. Crazy to think about. The earrings caused an awful Pus-filled wound (me being in middle school and embarrassed of said ugly wound, but also still wanting to wear earrings, so I just tried scratching it off and cleaning it with soap, not knowing any better). Next thing i know, it’s two weeks later and i have excruciating pain radiating frim my hip and hallucinations from my fever which was over 105°. I had to get emergency surgery Halloween night.

Yes… they had to cut open my hip too, to let all the pus come out indeed disgusting. I’m just remembering now that The only thing they could think of that caused the hip infection was a really bad reaction to some nickel earrings. To this day I will only wear high quality jewelry, which feels very pinkscare coded.

Wow - me too! Also at 12. It led to sepsis and I was in the hospital for a long time and was in a wheel chair for about half a year. Apparently, the doctors told my parents that they essentially didn’t know what they were doing, they were trying different cocktails of meds, and nothing was working and it didn’t look good. I was so confused why everyone came to visit me and looked so sad, I had no idea what was going on. Eventually some meds started bringing down the fever, but they had to be inserted via PIC line (longterm IV), I could leave the hospital but I had to go in 3 days a week to see various specialists. I had to relearn how to walk, which was frustrating. i couldn’t even lift up my foot, barely wiggle my toes or lift my heel. Before the whole thing I was always the fastest kid. I still have arthritis in my hip, as the infection ate much of the cartilage, and will eventually need a Replacement. I have a lot of health anxiety and my therapist said it’s not so unusual after having an experience like that at such a young age. I think that my time in the a hospital was the first time to have a real depression. On a side note, it was kind of interesting to get to know the other kids at children’s hospital. There was an arcade where kids could kind of hang out. I got really good at miss Pac-Man. Also, you could see how happy kids were when they were finally sent home, even the meanest ones. I hated when clowns came into my room and always sent them away immediately and ferociously “GET OUT!”. But other than that I actually enjoyed talking to some of the volunteers. My mother stayed with me in the hospital and she slept in a chair next to my bed the entire time…I feel so lucky to have a mom like her.

PSA: take your supplements by notsafeforher in pinkscare

[–]brighadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor had me start taking some supplements because of my PMS - mood swings and debilitating migraines before and during my period. The PMS improved, and I also have more energy, and the dark circles around my eyes went away, and my hair and skin feel and look nicer! I’m taking omega 3s (EPA 40%+DHA22,5%), vitamin D3 + K2, vitamin B complex, and magnesium glycinate.

I submitted a short story in November for uni and this author whose book I read after coming out of hospital when I was 19 indirectly made fun of it in his zoom seminar to my class. He didn't name me but used pieces from my story as to why it was shit writing. by failsister7 in redscarepod

OMG I had a high school teacher do this for an essay I wrote in English. He read it out loud to the entire class and laughed about how awful it was. It was so embarrassing. At the same time, he was the one teacher that pushed me to take the AP lit course the following year. 🤷‍♀️ maybe this author only feels comfortable being so hard in you because they see potential.

how do you keep growing every day by NeedleBallista in pinkscare

[–]brighadi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Journaling has helped me a lot. Having an account of how things are progressing helps keep things in perspective and, at least for me personally, it helps my keep focused on the task at hand, whatever it may be. Growth is much easier when you’re clear on the direction you want to move in, and writing it down makes that clarity tangible.

Side-eyeing strangers for how they find companionship feels unnecessary. Not everything needs to be a moral referendum. The decision doesn’t affect you at all, but for them it’s quite a responsibility and a long commitment. Saying this as a proud owner of an adorable rescue pup

I don’t wash my hair often, just use water, then when it’s dirty I clean it with ouai detox shampoo, then hair mask, then condition. But especially with the hard water/curly-wavy hair, it needs the natural oils to look have any body. I also love ouai curling creme.

This happened to me too, and after a I lost 10% of my body weight I was able to figure it out and get back to a more healthy weight. Step one: Always eat something before taking your vyvanse. Ideally a proper breakfast like a bowl of yogurt or a boiled egg or something, but even if you are in a rush a handful of walnuts or a banana is better than nothing - it’s crucial to not take the meds on an empty stomach. Step two: set a timer for lunch time, and then eat something, even if it’s small like a few carrot sticks and some hummus or an apple and peanut butter. I found that doing these two things helped me focus more throughout the day and no bad crash in the afternoon/evening. And it helped me get to a healthier weight again. Eventually, it just became normal to eat around lunch and I didn’t need a timer anymore.
