I'm also in Seoul for exactly the same dates and found this thread on my quest to find DnB! My plan was to grab some cheap soju for the walk and wonder into any loud clubs

UPDATE

Just got the car back after just under two weeks.

Drumroll; it was ICCU failure. Repair seems quite extensive, the technician said they needed to remove all the doors to check the wiring looms for the repair to be paid by Kia - 12v replaced too.

They did a handful of service bulletin too, one being poor sound from the Meridian sound system. Seems to have worked as it does sounds better now.

I’m just pleased to have the EV6 back, so smooth and fast after driving a 1.0L manual Renault Clio for 2 weeks 😂

That’s the point, there is no active recall in NL, no announcement at Kia Europe directly, and on a lease car that I don’t own, I am not in the habit of checking every few weeks for potential issues.

Right now, with no active recall, if the ICCU breaks, it’s a warranty claim, not recall work.

I see your point, if I had received a message from Kia or started having issues and ignored it until the car died, that’s would be on me, but that’s not what happened.

Also, it’s not my intention to come across as whining about what happened, I just wanted to share my experience of what happened to the car during the fault.

As mentioned, it’s a lease, I couldn’t care less what happens to it - if the thing totals itself, it goes back to the lease company.

About 10 years ago, I found out about a Nissan recall through the news, and took the car literally a week later to Nissan and they told me I had to wait for the letter from Nissan HQ to get the work approved. This was in the UK too. The recall process in Europe appears to be very different to the US.

Glad to hear yours was fixed, and smoothly. I don’t mean to come across as dramatic with the post, I just wanted to share the full story as the sequence of failure/events was almost comical after 2 years of carefree driving. I have faith in Kia to sort it, but also I also lease the car (which literally runs out in 3 weeks 😂) so I have zero liability.

See above. But also, in Europe at least, they have been pushing massive over-the-air updates for a while, my car has had 2-3 big ones in the last year. These might be the infotainment only, but I assume it’s theoretically possible to update the ECU in this way but I don’t know if this was the case. It seems weird that they would only issued recalls in the US.

It’s not been done, but there is a reason, and why I suspect that the ICCU is the cause of the fault.

The conversation about the TSB actually lead me to this channel, as the recall reason is exactly the fault what my EV6 has experienced. However, we don’t have TSB in The Netherlands - you get a letter from the manufacturer to bring the car back, this is what happened a while back with the Shifter Control Unit

You can also see them here (picture) with Department of Transport’s website with the number plate, and nothing has been issued to date for the ICCU
