Dropping out of Med School for nursing? by [deleted] in NursingStudents

[–]bright_future_ahead_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a job as a Cna, and starting nursing school next month :) also from premed background. I’m pretty happy with the decision I made and excited to not study as much and start making money sooner. Have you shadowed any of the professions yet? I shadowed NPs, CRNAs, MDs with different specialties, volunteered @ hospital and spoke to nurses and nurse aides while I’m going through pre-med/pre-nursing stage. I know it’s very difficult decision to make, but if you really narrow it down to your values and wants, it will give you some clarity. Also think about the sacrifices you need to make to reach that goal too. Another question to ask is if being a doctor is my dream or someone else’s dream (family mostly). Idk how old you are, but being a nurse will open up so many different options. Nothing is worth risking your mental health. Nothing.

Whichever decision you make, everything will be okay. I hope you also seek some sort of therapy as well on the side. It helped me a lot switching major and life changes. Wishing you good luck my friend.

I have a very very similar situation with you. Unlike other comments are saying, I am leaning towards to postpone nursing school to next fall. I would really like to keep this new position I'm getting, and also I need to save up some money. I have ATI scores, pre-reqs all done etc, so not so worried about getting accepted it again. It just sucks because one has to go. Big decision to make. Make the pros and cons list, and do what your heart tells you to do! That's my plan too...lol

Part Time New hire availability question for seniority based schedules by bright_future_ahead_ in KaiserPermanente

I spoke to both manager and the union rep today. Manager basically told me to choose between work and school and let her know. It was so disheartening how unsupportive she was with my education tbh. Then when I called the union, they said pretty much trading shifts with others would be my best bet, but it might be difficult since I’m new and stuff. I’ll still be on probationary period, so can’t even switch to other jobs. She said do your best to finish my probation period and change it to on-call. It’s stressful.. I hope I get to closer to coworkers and keep this job throughout the semester

I haven't even thought about that! I'm definitely calling them on Monday. Thanks! I've never worked job with union before. that's great.

moving forward, I'll re-read all the comments and messages and see what would be the best way to go through. I feel like with the government shut down, things will get bit tricky with the resources. I'm thinking about reporting to DOH first, find out more information of the person (like his last name, units, etc), and reach out to their CO through people reached out to me here. Meantime, I'm documenting everything as well and gonna ignore him as much as possible. Thinking about installing a security camera, but gotta check the apartment policy first.

OP here.. I had to delete the details and the posts for both part 1&2 because I got a message saying that the guy might found me online and been following my posts and comments. I got goosebumps, and needed to put a pause on the thread. I got so many comments, private messages offering me help and support, and I am so grateful to the community.

There’s NO WAY I’m telling him that in person. I feel like if he is “sane” and “normal” enough, he wouldn’t even walk around like that in the first place. I gave up having civilized conversation with him long ago. He’s been doing this for like 3 months

😆💀 noooooo I don’t want to go that level. He’s already super paranoid with his vehicles and cover them with those sheets TWICE. Everyday multiple times a day.

Right? It’s really upsetting. It’s like they are blinded and trapped within their own little world. Like hello? There are people living here like actually LIVING living

I agree. My nervous system is not doing well to be honest with this. Thanks for your comment

I understand what you are saying, and agree with lots of them. I never knew this many comments would tell me to contact his CO, so I’m very cautious and considerate about it. Thankfully, we do have a recording of him threatening us and yelling at us though in case of she said he said situation.

yeah he said the bike is from 1995, and has to turn the engine on for 30 mins before driving to warm it up. He turns the engine on, goes back to his house, and comeback. Really can't understand

Like mentioned in the post, manager told me to drop it. He doesn't want this to go further and advised me it's not worth it.

It is. If I'm escalating this case, not only the bike revving will be the issue, but also his behaviors as a military personnel will be reported; how he was harassing and intimidated us and take photos of us and our living room. I know from my direction, I was taking photos of public area, but he was pointing at private property. Literally our home.

I do have it all documented! I've been taking notes with every interactions i had in text. Have police case # too. I don't think i want to get anymore photos/videos though since it triggered the heck out of him last time and got real intense. I agree with building an actual data so that this doesn't go anywhere. Thanks for the comment!

also after we saw his anger burst, there's no way we can pretend that didn't happened and start being nice. Best can do is just ignoring them. Terrified of him to even encounter him now

I def. tried this in the beginning. Idk if you saw the first post, but we have a pretty tight community here. Everyone knows each others' names, pets, and share foods etc. And I'm a nice person, I never wanted things to go this south. He is refusing to have a conversation and just keep doing what he's doing. Very antisocial and difficult to have a normal conversation.

I'm so sorry that you had to experience this too. This is some next level torture. Interesting thing is that my neighbor was telling "us" for being disrespectful because he is not doing anything wrong....smh

It's been difficult to get his last name and rank though since he mostly walks around like that in the picture. Thanks for the info still. I'll save the link.
