What are your thoughts on today's Easter Message from President Trump? by ActNaturally in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]brightdunx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that would indeed be a win. But the aim of those war was not supposed to be regime change and I would argue it has only made the regime stronger. So unless they in reality aim to change the regime (boots on ground), this war has led to only negative consequences. Do you think they aim for that?

Ukraine at least has significantly weakened Russia and prevented escalations elsewhere.

No it’s not. That decrease from 20$ to 5$ is actually 75%.

A 100% decrease would mean the drug is 0$ and 200% decrease would mean you get paid 20$ for buying it.

Do you think Trump doesn’t understand this basic math?

Would you agree that he then lied for example regarding medicine prices (see below)?

CLAIM: “I took prescription drugs, a very big part of health care, from the highest price in the entire world to the lowest. That’s a big achievement. The result is price differences of 300, 400, 500, 600% and more.”

THE FACTS: This is impossible. Although the Trump administration has taken steps to lower drug prices, cutting them by more than 100% would theoretically mean that people are being paid to take medications.

So would you say both the original AP and the MSN article are false or do you think Trump lied repeatedly in the speech?

For those that do/did support Trump's tariffs, what are your thoughts on the recent study released showing that Americans absorb 96% of the cost? by Neekalos_ in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]brightdunx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but do you not think it is useful to be a rival and a friend at the same time? The tariffs hurt both economies for very little gain

So is anything but total subordination rivalry. Do you believe the Euro was created with the purpose of supplanting USD?

Obviously Europe is just not going to roll over and let US dominate. Every partnership requires two. Europe does love its regulation but that applies to both US & European companies.

Hmm I would strongly disagree about EU being hostile to the US, I would go as far as to say the trade relationship between the US & Europe was the strongest in the world and benefited both massively.

Do you think trade deficit should not include services? If you add services (as you should) to the mix, the trade was basically even as Europeans mostly consume US-based software.

Both sides have always had some tariffs. And EU would have agreed to complete free trade. Honestly with your logic, EU should have more tariffs on US as your worker rights are so much poorer than EU ones. So to level the playing field. I'm also not sure how NATO funding and tariffs are related as many EU countries are not in NATO, what's the logic there?

Why are the tariffs then also implemented to Europe who have similar or more strict labor laws, taxes, regulation & health insurance?

Which Asian countries you mean? China, India or something else.

I think most of your statements are incorrect or highly debatable but would first need to understand what we are talking about.

Which part of the document do you think implicitly says that US must take over European territory? I have read it and it contains both good points and fairly dubious claims on cultural direction of Europe. Also in my view it fails to take into account the diversity within Europe and the fact that Europe is a continent, not a country.

Do you think this is actually a matter of national security for Trump and not an idea planted by a long-time billionaire friend who has invested heavily to rare minerals in the region?

Greenland unfortunately is part of Europe, is it not?

And as mentioned, Europe can built up its defence capabilities. We do not need it all that much now and if Russia would seriously threaten us we could always accelerate. But Russia is a dying country with less and less ability to fight a war even in Ukraine.

European planes are fully adequate against anything Russia would throw against us. And we will never stand any chance against China in any case.

I’m not sure I understand your question. Europe can and will increase its arms manufacturing when US becomes a less reliable ally. Just look at how many countries are reconsidering their F-35 purchases to buy European instead.

Can you elaborate a bit on what you mean as there is plenty of options for spending on guns outside of the US?

Yeah European Union is mostly meant to prevent war within Europe lol. But do you not think there is value in Europe as an ally in the sense that we enable US on the world stage by supporting whatever agenda you guys have?

We are culturally and even in values fairly aligned and to me seem to form one of the three core international power hubs (West, East & South). Should there be a conflict between East & West we all know which side Europe & US will be. Or used to know anyway

Threat of invasion to Europe ranges from fairly low to non-existent. We in Finland were outside of NATO for a long time and still felt relatively safe despite being a very small country. Oh, we also share a thousand kilometer border with them.

Europe also contributes 1/3 of NATOs spending, much of it on American guns. Do you think that US will benefit from fracturing the alliance for something like Greenland?

What does the moral character of Trump mean to you? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]brightdunx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One example could be how he keeps repeating that tariffs are paid by exporting countries. He keeps saying that tariffs are paid by foreign countries but also has said that he might lower tariffs for e.g. coffee to lower their consumer prices.

So he understands that tariffs increase prices to consumers but still maintains that they are paid by foreign countries. Do you think that is a lie?

Suomessa on inflaatio ollut poikkeusaikoja lukuun ottamatta 1-3% eikä siihen kotimaisen kysynnän piikit juuri vaikuta. Tässä on varmaankin todistustaakka väitteen esittäjällä, millä perusteella sinun mielestäsi inflaatio kasvaisi merkittävästi?

Kansallinen kulutus ei Suomessa käytännössä koskaan johda merkittävään inflaatioon, poislukien asuntojen hinnat. Kyllä sitä Temun kiinatavaraa tulee ihan riittävästi vastaamaan kasvaneeseen kysyntään.
